Nederland @ United

Recommended Posts

‘Control the Tempo’ is gonna be easier said than done and is also a double edged sword.  Teams have tried this as far as slowing the tempo down.  Crazy thing is This team has very good shooters as well as athletes, so they’ll thrive in the half court game.  As far as speeding up the tempo, that’s a fast way to find yourself down by 20 early.

Beat bet is to roll out the ball and play YOUR game better than BU plays their game and see what happens.

Two really good coaches here so you know they’ll be a chest match at some point.

I don’t think Nederland has the personnel to be able to battle  BU for 4 Quarters and this one will probably be a 25 pt win...

Who are United’s top players?   What does Ned have to do to win?  Where is this one at?

Really revolves around our 3 headed monster where either one can explode for 30.  6’7” Jr Arceneaux, 6’4” Soph Yates, and 6’5” Soph Porchia.

My previous post states what I think Nederland needs to do to win.

At United Gym Tuesday at 7.

I agree, 2 good coaches.  Even though I see United winning, I never count English out.  I remember him beating K Perkins when he was at Vidor.  He always has something up his sleeve.   I hope Ned makes it respectful.

He did NOT beat a Perkins lead team.  He did beat a strong Ozen team, but Perkins was in the NBA when this happened...

He actually beat a Perkins led team when he was at Vidor.  May have beat them twice that year.  Scouts were at game to watch Perkins at their own little table at Ozen.  Vidor lit it up from the 3.  Fact.

Vidor made 17 3’s that game, but still lost to Perkins. It was the following year vidor beat Ozen 3 times

Perkins lost once in HS and it wasn’t to Vidor. It was to Chris Bosh in the state championship

Remember, Perk and Ozen went undefeated his Sophmore year.  He had at least 1 loss when they lost to Chris Bosh and Dallas Lincoln and he lost another year early in the playoffs I believe.  So I want to say he at least lost about 3 or 4 times...

Yearly this has become somewhat of a rivalry game between two good programs with top shelf coaching. United (13-0) hasnt played a game in 14 days. Nederland (13-0) last played 5 days ago. This could be a factor in the margin of the of the final score. United is humble enough to prepare and humble enough to perform. Looking forward to a fair called injury free game. Lace them up and let it do what it do...jmo...

    • Solid week.  Alone in 4th for the playoffs.  If I hadn’t started off down 16-18 picks after 4 weeks I’d be up near the top 🤦🏻‍♂️
    • This is good info. It doesn’t really break out for student athletes though. LP & (I think) DP are open enrollment because of the way the towns intertwine. That’s the way it’s been for many years anyway. I assume it still is that way. The kids have a choice after Jr. High to go to either High School because LPISD has elementary schools in DP. As I recall, DP didn’t want to build out more (Robin Hood issues), and so DPISD & LPISD came to an arrangement because LPISD is one of the highest givers to Robin Hood in the state, and it helped both keep more funds in district. Of course, LPISD is open to all. Not just DP, and LPISD is rated well. So, I assume they have kids from elsewhere also. Not positive though. They used to have a lot because—for decades—DeWalt was the only dedicated public school in the GHA that specifically catered to special needs kids. Families from all over enrolled. But, they didn’t participate in extracurricular activities like sports. So, LP’s total enrollment made them 6A. But, they were really a 5A school all along for sports program sake. This is all as best as I can recall from when I was more involved in school issues. I’m sure a lot has changed since then. My kids have been out for 20 years.
    • Our playoff rivalry. They hold a 6-5 edge in the series. I think Newton continues the win streak in a hard fought contest. What say y’all?
    • Has Elmo gotten his aggy premature extension yet?  Pay him already because you guys were exactly right - he really does “get you.” 😂🤣
