It would be interesting to not only see yards penalized, but to also keep track of yards brought back due to penalties.  WB may have another 1000yd category.  Two really long plays brought back, and i remember the very long one that hurt so bad against Westfield.

How many times have we all seen beautiful runs brought back because of of a hold or clip in an area on the field that was not significant.  We could call this category the "uh o awe $h1+" yardage.

Now this is one of those stats i am sure gets brought up when watching the game films.

Just a sloppy game.  Is it just me or does it seem that we never try to change/disguise our pass defense?  We run a basic zone on every play, with maybe a blitz every now and then.   Any offensive coordinator can spot the seams.  And, how do they continually get behind us when we run a two-deep zone?   I can't figure out what is going on back there.

One last negative comment.   Will someone teach our QB how to tuck the ball properly?   This stuff is gonna cost us down the road.

I agree 100%....he carries the ball like a loaf of bread. He made some good runs last night, but he also coughed one up. If anybody knows Coach Louis, please relay him the message that he needs to explain to Christian how to tuck the ball and carry it properly. When we get to the playoffs, we wont be able to afford the kind of mistakes that were made last night!

I think its 2 prong.  First its technique, our guys are good athletes their fundamentals as far as defensive backs go is horrible.  Second its scheme, the way we cover the spread with our defensive alignment gets us beat down the middle of the field.  We have to fix both of these if we plan on beating any top tier teams in the playoffs.

certainly Stump and the rest of the coaching staff can see this. Why does it seem that these issues are not being fixed? If we can see it, than scouting coaches from other schools can see it and therefore try to exploit it as a weakness. Our pass defense definitely needs some work. The Rangers had 1 yard rushing. 1. But had over 150 yards through the air. That was the only time they moved the ball. We have got to work on these types of things.

I didn't get a chance to go to the West Brook game. I went to see Nederland/Ozen. Did any of the other running backs for WB  standout last night ?

They're slowly trying to get this soph. kid, Cooper #26, acclimated to the speed of varsity competition. He is Albert williams replacement for next year. He is doing OK. He only had 5 carries for 25 yards. I think he'll see more playing time as the year wears on.

you gotta admit though...our defense showed up in force for the second half...no points and we had like 3 or 4 takeaways...i was wondering where that was in the 1st half...i think we will be fine probably decided to go with basic stuff this week thinking it would be an easy game....not to mention previously Sterling had a lot more rushing yards than passing yards thats why we saw all those plays where we blitzed and got beat with the pass...Sterling wasnt about to lay down in this game and thats very respectable...id be watching for alot less LB blitzes against PAM because of their STRONG passing attack...we will be able to tell more after next week

if PAM goes to the air like Sterling did, we are in TROUBLE. If they(coaches)dont work with the DB's and CB'c this week on reading the pass and disrupting the QB's timing, it's gonna be a long night for the Brook!

true...lets not just give no blame to the D-Line i mean dont get me wrong they touched the QB on almost every play but when they see that it is a pass they need to learn to get their hands up....i mean our DE's are 6'5'' and if they put their hands up the opposing QB would have to throw it like straight up in the air just to get it over them...our DL is a big part of our pass defense and they need to learn that...haha i cant believe im saying that our D-line has mistakes..in all honesty they are amazing but quite a bit of those passes couldve been blocked on the line

Our d-line is the main reason Sterling didnt do anything in the 2nd half.  Our d-line and LBs are the reason teams cant run on us.  If our secondary plays average with the d-line and LBs we have it would be a lights out defense, but as of now our secondary is horrible.

yep, and if you look at the stats, the teams that have had accumulated big yardage against our D have done it through the air. The coaches have to know this....my question is, what are we gonna do to correct it and make it even better? As I've said before, offense wins games, but defense wins championships!

I must weigh in on the game last night.  Ugly. Ugly.  The team came out flat and you could see it when they run on to the field.

1.  5 turnovers.  QB and RB each had 2 fumbles.  QB had 1 int.  Can't do this against the good teams.

2.  Too many penalties.

3.  Broken assignments in the secondary.

4.  All the above looked like an opening game where you're ironing out probs.  Was it lack or focus(playing 0 and 6 team) or lack of discipline?

5.  With the score 40 something to 21 with 4 minutes and change left, why are we going for two points and running #33?  With 25 out for the year, give 26 a chance to gain some confidence or give the kicker another kick for his confidence.

6.  Mistakes were made offensively and defensively not just in the secondary.  Keep in mind, Sterling only scored 2 TD's on the D.  The other was given up on a fumble recovery by the O.  If the pass D was as bad as some believe, then Sterling would have scored in the second half.  Work does need to be done to stop giving up the big play.

7.  Get # 26 in the game more before we get to the playoffs.

8.  I almost forgot.  Receivers must catch balls that hit them in the hands.

9.  This team is capable of beating anyone in the state.  Last night showed that they can also be beaten by anyone if they don't show up to play.

10.  Stupidest play call of the year so far is the Sterling coach going for the onsides just before half time with the lead and the momentum.

11.  WB will be alright.  I think they played down to their competition.  This week is a rivlary game and they should get up for it.  The next 2 are pay back games.
