Lady Cardinals Volleyball Travels to McNeese State Lamar seeks 15th straight win, 10-0 start to SLC play Oct. 22, 2007 BEAUMONT - The Lamar University volleyball team look to continue their impressive start to the Southland Conference season Tuesday night in Lake Charles, La. when they take on the McNeese State Cowgirls at 7 p.m. The Lady Cardinals enter the match on a 14-match win streak, boasting an 18-7 overall record and a 9-0 mark in SLC play. The 14 straight wins is the longest win streak in 30 years, second only to the 1977 squad that won 19 straight, while the 9-0 start to conference play is the best since the 2001 opened with nine straight. The Lamar offense is led by senior Molli Abel's 3.24 kills per game while posting 1.15 blocks per game. Sophomore Kaci Brewer has also been a mainstay in the LU offense posting 3.21 kills per game while sophomore setter Adrianne Meengs has passed out 11.25 assists per game. The LU defense is anchored by Andrea Hamilton, who is averaging 5.00 digs per game. McNeese enters the match with a 12-11 overall record and a 6-3 record in SLC play. The Cowgirls are led by Alyson Jones' 3.29 kills per game, while Jennifer Cook has averaged 2.47 kills per game. Sarah Cartie has passed out 10.48 assists per game, and the Cowgirl defense is led by Jessica Strama's 5.65 digs per game.
