SOMIS, Calif. - Paced by senior Casey Clendenon, the Lamar University men's golf team is in fourth place following Monday's first two rounds at The Club Glove Intercollegiate hosted by Pepperdine University at Saticoy Country Club (Par-72, 6,405-yards).

The 12-team field had to battle the overly windy conditions caused by the Santa Ana winds. Additionally, the air was smoky due to the fires in the Malibu area.

A native of Katy, Clendenon opened with a 4-over par 76 and followed with a 77 in the afternoon. He is tied for eighth place at 9-over 153. Joel Sjoholm of Georgia State holds the 36-hole lead at 1-over 73-72--145.

Host Pepperdine holds the 36-hole team lead with a 606 total. Loyola-Marymount is second at 614 and Georgia State is third at 615. Lamar, who is the defending team champion, shot a 313 in the opening round and a 309 in the afternoon. The Cardinals are in fourth place at 622, 16 strokes behind the Waves.

Hugues Joannes, a sophomore from Brussels, Belgium, posted rounds of 81 and 74 and is tied for 12th at 11-over 155. A junior from Cape Town, South Africa, Justin Harding shot rounds of 79 and 77 and is tied for 14th at 12-over 156.

Russell Helson, a senior from Georgetown, carded rounds of 79 and 81 and is tied for 134 at 160. Leroux Ferriera, a junior from South Africa, shot rounds of 79-83 and is 41st at 162.

The field will play the final 18 holes Tuesday to complete the 54-hole event.
