They made big defensive stops to pad that lead going into half time. Trey Haynes stepped up big time in the 4th. Gilder was also big tonight and provided the senior leadership this team sometimes needs. It was a great all around team effort. Really getting sick and tired of people crying about our players. You either need to get tougher, or go watch some other less physical sport. I'm done hearing it. There's teams out there that will do you a lot more "dirty" than Silsbee. What are you gonna do when/if you play one of them? Fold and complain I guess. I sat right behind the Raider bench and Coach Mitchell himself told his kids to stop being soft. Honestly he probably was about 24/25 from the ft line. Great players know how to draw fouls. His shots were not falling until the 2nd half. I was impressed with his game today overall. Probably had 40 points 15 rebounds (again). As far as Silsbee being dirty players, we have ALWAYS had that on our back lol people hate our style of play. You are exactly right, get tougher!! I am extremely impressed with Harris and Miller. To only be freshman, my goodness they are going to be unstoppable. Very bright future in Silsbee. That was only 5 years ago he was at HJ and he graduated in 2018. McClure is a really good player that scraps to get tons of rebounds and is an excellent free throw shooter if tonight is a consistent thing for him. With this being said you would think with McClure's clear dominance it would have led to Lumberton beating HJ one of these last two years. Parquet graduated from WB not HJ. He left HJ after his sophomore year, so yeah he's not an HJ alumni.

ST413
Great game tonight. Proud of my young Tigers! They put together a great effort and pulled off a big win on the road. I will have to second the comment on Bottley. I was very impressed with his hands and defense in that second quarter. I have to say this team is probably more balanced than the last few Tiger teams. As far as the Raiders go it is definitely the McClure show but i was impressed by the play inside as well. As far as McClure, he definitely impressed me more tonight than he did last year. Naturally his play has improved but more of what i am referring to is the mental side of game. Last year he didnt have a real good attitude and seemed to give up on the game when they got behind. I saw nothing of that tonight. And he hit some tough shots late in the game. TxHoops

I know you’re never wrong but I gotta respectfully disagree. I’m glad the young man signed with Lamar. He’s a heckuva free throw shooter. In his defense other than #25 he didn’t have much help tonight. Lumberton has a hard time handling pressure and repeatedly turned it over on a pretty simple mid court trap. The young man from Silsbee, I believe his # was 2 is gonna be the real deal. He is gonna have a D1 body. Nice shot from behind the arc and could get to the basket pretty much at will. Not very pretty basketball tonight.

Saladin was a two time all state player that averaged over 20 in his junior and senior year probably not a better player overall, but still in the argument. Also, I have no interest in arguing why Parquet isn't a Hawk I assumed growing up in the district and starting for two seasons would be enough, but okay. Silsbee is one of the few places that actually teaches kids how to correctly play defense. They don’t feed them the myth that basketball is a non-contact sport. And while I have to admit I haven’t seen a single Silsbee little dribbler game that wasn’t against another town, I’m assuming they try to have games officiated properly. Conversely, you have other towns where they grow up used to getting every touch foul, momma’s get upset when someone bodies little Johnny, etc. So when you play Silsbee, they are playing dirty because they play hard, physical defense. Would grate on my last nerve sitting in the stands listening to that. DXTR

Would grate on my last nerve sitting in the stands listening to that. This!! I will tell you a little story about that Silsbee style of play. Several years ago I went up to Sherman Texas to broadcast Silsbee in the Sherman tourney. The very first game Silsbee played was a school out of San Antonio. Silsbee played their patent man to man in your face pressure defense. Silsbee won the game by 35. After the game I was packing up my equipment and these two elderly men approached me and asked if I was with the Silsbee team and I said yes. They both looked at me and said that they don't see that type of basketball up there and asked if that's what Silsbee does all the time. I said those kids play that style from the day they start playing the game in our Little Dribblers program. It's what they know. Those two just shook their head. Silsbee blew thru that tourney with ease and those two men became big fans during that tourney. They came and spoke to me after every game. It was also pretty obvious that the teams in that tourney were not used to that style because it showed. I think the closest game Silsbee had was in the championship game against host Sherman (who had the easy side of the bracket). Silsbee won by 24. Tigers94
Here let me say something nice about Raider basketball. Those other two games Lumberton played Silsbee tonight, they came out and were playing to win. Just a few short years ago, they would of had that deer in headlights look as soon as the ball was tipped off. They played hard tonight and didn't look scared at all, even though they did end up losing by 20 (freshman game). And really I'm starting to think our freshman team could beat the JV one. I really like Coach Mitchell. He was trying get it through his kids head all night to toughen up. Y`all had better hope he sticks around for a while. lovemesometxsports

You just keep making comments like this one that reveal you are more than a little off with your evaluations. But to use one kid who you are mistaken about, again, I am willing to bet McClure averages more than 6 pts and 3 rebs at Lamar. Same school, same coach as Bosha played at/for. And I am wrong on occasion. I sat in a gym in Duncanville several years ago and argued with one of my best friends that Texas should hire Shaka and he argued they should hire Buzz Williams. This year aside (where Shaka is trying to prove me right), I have still admitted to him many times that he was right and I was wrong. And he knows a little about the sport too...his sons played for Calipari at Kentucky
