However, Cardinals second-year Coach Steve Roccaforte still brings back four starters. The most criticial difference between last season's 15-17 squad should be the point-guard play. Roccaforte has recruited a pair of junior college transfers Kenny Dawkins and Brandon McThay, who will battle for the starting job. McThay, who was with the Cardinals during the 2005-06 campaign, spent last season at Kilgore (Texas) College. This will allow Darren Hopkins to move to his natural spot at the shooting guard. The Cardinals also return the conference's top rebounder in senior Lamar Sanders. Lamar will have senior Matthew Barrow and junior big man Nwevo back in the fold. Look for talented junior-college forward Jay Brown to waste little time making his presence felt. John Deere Posted October 25, 2007 Report Posted October 25, 2007 I hope that small guy can play some ball. It's been years since the Montagne Center was filled and that is a shame. Tubbs and Foster had the program headed for greatness and others let it fall from grace. Lets go Cardinals!
Guest abovetherim Posted October 25, 2007 Report Posted October 25, 2007 John Deere, haha the tractor. Good user-name there Levi. I would have never guessed John Deere. Heck even the Grooms cake for your wedding had a John Deere tractor on it. Anyway, I hear for not just coaches but players are also stating Kenny Dawkinks in the real deal.
tvc184 Posted October 25, 2007 Report Posted October 25, 2007 Hopefully they are correct. It would be nice for a change to see Lamar at the top of the heap again. I saw about 75 of their 80 straight home court wins and a few of the road games during that stretch. What a great time that was.
