Heard that too.

Did you hear who was on it by chance?  McVay, Schottenheimer?   Reid ?  Butt-chin?

I was told there were at least 25 applicants as of this week. That's not a bad number for a school like Buna.

whats a school like buna ?  haven't they made the playoffs in football like 10 of the last 15 years ?

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with community necessarily. It is lacking in terms of compensation and facilities.

Yeah, you can tell football is not a priority to the people who've made decisions on facilities. Waaaay down the list.

They’re also not the only school like this either. Shelbyville is a 2A school, but they have turf. However, go drive by most small schools in the SE Texas area and they don’t. Not right or wrong, just depends on the priorities of each community.

Shelbyville has turf because Shelby co. has money. I have prop. In Shelby co.  A few years back they were cracking for gas/oil. This poured a lot of money into the school in Shelby co. including Center.

That’s fair

But small schools like Bremond, Dublin, Snook, Flatonia and Grand Saline have it. Some communities have more steady inflow of money than others. But communities that to want to find a way, will make it happen.

The reason Buna doesn’t have a turf is because we had a Superintendent for several years that didn’t give a crap about sports plain and simple. Buna won’t get a turf field until we can pass another bond.

A lot of small schools get 100+ applicants...25 is a low number but Buna IMO didnt do a great job putting the job out on THSCA etc

That is correct around 100 apply for some small schools , but 75 of those have been applying for every job in the state 1A to 6A. If it is 25 good candidates then that is pretty good. Facilities are one thing that is going to hurt them in my opinion.

If you guys want turf I hope you all get it. Just remember turf turns a game into a track meet sometimes.
