No big deal.  It turns into disrespect, however, when the team is still jumping up and down when the home team comes out and wants to jump up and down on their logo.  During basketball season when Kendrick Perkins was still at Ozen, Ozen did it at midcourt and stayed there when the Jags came out.  A scuffle ensued.  Quite understandable.

Illegal! Unsportsmanlike conduct.  The officials have been instructed to make BOTH teams go directly to their sidelines.

Yea i have heard that but alot of times the officials dont do nothing about it....

That assumes you have competent officials. Which is unlikely and then they would have to actually be on the field to prevent it.

If the visiting team comes out of the locker room in the second half, marches out to midfield and jumps up and down on the home team's logo.

Thoughts?

WOS has gone to the "center" of the field for years. Don't take it personal. I think they are going to the middle and that just happens to be where we all put our logo. We do it at home and away. No disrespect intended. We do it to start the game too.

And how would you take it if an opposing team did it at your stadium.

If they jump up and down onthe logo, just be on your sidelines in a prompt fashion.  I've seen these type celebrations before.  Trinity HS comes out with the traditional 'Haka' in the end zone.  But they do it then go to the huddle.

There have been some that have gone to the center of the field. It doesn't bother me at all. I honestly think it's the center of the field not an attack on your logo.

opposing teams have done it before at wos.  personally i dont like it when any team goes to the center of the field.  i dont think its disrespectful, but i have seen fights break out because of it.

I believe that you use it as motivation and you tell your team they are disrespecting you.You challenge your team and ask them are you going to let them do that to you and your field?

I have seen refs not even let the home team go out and do it ,and I have seen where the refs just sit there and watch!

You all need to get a grip. If teams are paying attention to where another team is running out to then there head is not in the game. if you feel disrepected then do something about it. People find anything to gripe about. Wo-s can care less if you run out onto their logo cause more than likely your gonna be running out of the stadium with an L...so who cares.

I can't remember which game it was, but it was an away game this year.  The officials did not let WOS go to the middle of the field like they normally do.  Official was standing in the middle and waved the players back toward the sideline.  Since we are talking about disrespect....LaMarque always runs past the visitors sideline and then around the field and then out to the middle ---it is an OBVIOUS arrogance, imo.

My question is why cant these teams just follow the rules? Why can't the Head Coach have control and make his or her players follow the rules? If They don't follow the rules,  throw the flag and mark off the 15 yards. I Look at it as time for players to jump up and down and say look at me, just as when a player or a team makes a play and the kid or kids have to get up slaping their chest and yelling look what I did. Great players (not GOOD ones) like E Smith would score and head back to the sideline he did his job no need to take his helmet off and yell look at me, he had class. I think it is classless to come out and disrespect another teams players or field or fans in any way. Good teams like WOS should act like they have been there before BECAUSE THEY HAVE!

Whatever.  The kids are fired up after they run through the tunnel.  What difference does it make if they jump up and down trying to get the crowd fired up or their adrenaline going or whatever?  They don't taunt after they make a touchdown, so what is the problem if it is before the game?

Then the coach of the home team should tell the officials to be out in the middle of the field to keep the visitor's from jumping on the other team's logo.  Someone also mentioned that the coaches should tell them not to do it.  Yeah, right.

"Ok, guys.  You boys don't go jumping up and down on the little bird out in the middle of the field, ok?  You're going to hurt the feelings of the other team if you do that."  Gimme a break.  It's football, and they want to get their team fired up.  Let the home team run them off the field with the score if that's the case.  There are some pretty picky people on here.

Yea I geuss it would be dumb to teach teenagers that it is a good Idea to follow the rules. The reason it is a problem is because what do you think happens if both teams run to the middle of the field at the same time I geuss in your world it would be ok for them to get into it on the logo to fire the crowd up.

Its not just the visiting team it just shouldn't be done, it clearly tells you that you come to your sideline and before each half you meet the other teams captians at mid field ESCORTED BY A REF. This is the only time you meet at mid field. It is no Dif than after a game a visiting team meeting at mid-field to have their after game speech, it just leads to problems thats why UIL tells you not to do it!
