How does Crosby reload?

We lose all of our top offensive weapons.

McCoy Casey is maybe the only defensive starter returning (great to have the district defensive MVP back)

I believe 2-3 of the offensive lineman are back.

Who's got insight?

I hear the Cyrin Miles kid is pretty good.

is it a two headed monster at RB? or will Jones or Smith take the job outright?

Looks like Kirkwood and Womack are returning at receiver. Can Womack run the ball like Wilson did from the inside position? Will Kirkwood turn that big frame into a big play receiver? He hit that bomb versus Nederland and a crucial TD versus Huntsville that gives you a lot of hope given how good that Huntsville defense was and how much Nederland was trying to not get beat deep. How will he deal with top CB's next season? Will we move him around to resolve the top CB one on one scenarios.

Who can break out Roberson, Samuels, Parker, Leos.

Who is this Eudy kid? He played varsity as a freshman is he the next big thing? (Or is he only a punter.)

I have my opinion who may be the good RB from Crosby but I will just keep it to myself for now. I’m not referring to either Jones or Smith. Crosby does have a LOT of positions open though. Next year may be down but I think after that they will look good. I believe the Eudy kid was the QB on the freshman team. He was brought up to punt when Dunn injured his ankle. 14.2 can clarify as to what position he played on the freshman team.

I believe Jones will be moved to LB. Cyrin is the future at QB. Offensive line should be fine strahan is coming back and I hear there’s  another 300 pounder coming up. Womack not as fast a Wilson but possibly more dynamic after the catch. Another year on the weights is all he needs. Look for Kirkwood to explode next year. I’m thinking a running back will emerge they always do.  I trust Prieto to get the most out of the guys he has. Went to state with only one D1 prospect and no all state kids in his second year not to mention Covid

Part of the reason Crosby made it to the title game this year was because of the depth they had across the board for a 5A-D2 squad. That’s one of the advantages of being towards the top of the class in enrollment.

As far as reloading at the skill positions, I think we’re more than fine. Love what we have at qb in the program. I think we’re three deep there but I think Myles potential to be a 2500/1000 player keeps him the job.

The backs and receivers should take a dip from the Branch/Dunn/Herman combination but there’s a lot of young talent waiting to replace them. It’s going to be a matter of how fast/well/much they develop. I expect Crosby to be ahead of other teams in the district with the development of their young talent since pretty much every player that’ll be on varsity got a year and a half worth of practice this season.

Defense will be our issue. Lost a lot of good high school football players on that side of the ball. Depending on how well the defense reloads is what I think determines a 9-4 or 10-3+ record for the Cougars. Crosby could possibly put a better team on the field than the one they did this year and still finish with an 11-2 record and a 3rd round loss to FBM. Crazy how that works out.

2022 though . . . Man!

I suspect the biggest problem Aledo would have with the East Texas Carthage Dawgs is speed.

Y’all ain’t faster than Crosby and Aledo is faster than us. Their 4star safety BJ Allen(LSU commit) ran down Devon Achane(fastest player in Texas at the time) as a sophomore in the state championship game which is pretty impressive. What’s even more impressive is that his younger brother is a ‘24 kid who’s also stupid fast and just picked up his first SEC offer from LSU too. You can’t tell me Demarco Robert’s wasn’t the fastest player on the team though.

They’re who they are because issues like speed affect their gameplan less than everyone else’s. You have to beat them at the line of scrimmage, otherwise they play that old school Tampa 2 defense that is very tough to deal with at the high school level with four FBS players in the secondary on a consistent basis. Not to mention the disguise and execution are flawless.

Of course things change from year to year and in one game anything can happen but on average I think Aledo gets Carthage 8 out of 10 times the way things are currently constructed. Should have a better feel for it in late August though.

Once again, shout out to Coach Jerry Prieto and the Crosby coaching staff. Assuming the schedules hold from their originals in 2020 he will have had Crosby on the field Aledo and Carthage, who have 18 state titles between them, in the same calendar year. Crosby stays 5A-D2 the next three years I think we get another shot at one.

What do you mean by Aledo? Are you talking about the coaches? Parents? Kids? Who are the ones recruiting? Maybe the winning does the recruiting. You tell me.

At this point, the kids/families come without prompting from anyone. Everyone wants to be a winner. Some will buy a house or rent an apartment in district to do it. I'd be willing to bet that at this point, Aledo is doing things as clean or cleaner than anyone in the state. Not that they ever weren't. They keep winning and the kids are in district well before they get to varsity. Just my guess/thoughts.

I know about the QB move-in, but I don't believe for a second, Buchanan hunted him down all the way in California.
