First round suspension for a fight following a seeding game to determine who you play in the first round of the playoffs would be pretty ironic.

Wonder if The UIL will get involved to determine if any suspensions are issued or will they leave it up to the school districts.  Let's see how quick this little brawl gets swept under the rug.

From my viewpoint, the "brawl" was much ado about nothing.

Be very surprised that anything is done about this skirmish. Which what it was, a skirmish. Seen much much worse.

Definitely punches thrown and players leaving bench as well as fans coming on court.  Lots of players pulling others back main skirmish was just the 2 players from what i could see. But it lasted a couple minutes.

As far as the game itself, pretty lackluster.  Wasnt really impressed by either tonight but may have been more because of the style of play.  Neither team really shot the ball well.  Huffman really should have lost the game based on turnovers and fts late in the game.  But HJ couldnt do anything to capitalize on it.

But, I did watch this game from the online link. Was not there.

I am being told by folks that were there that punches were thrown. Be interesting to see how this plays out.

I was also informed from a person at the game that a player from HJ landed a few punches on a player from Huffman, also fans from both teams was on the floor. I can't wait to hear the decision UIL hands down to HJ & Huffman

Question will be, since the clock had run out, how do they write this up? Can't say it happened during game, officially.

The fan involvement is really not the issue here. Just player involvement.

I have to say i saw and heard HJ fans complaining about the huffman students(during the game not the aftergame part). Yet i really didnt see anything any different than i have seen from HJs students in the past.  Now one question i do have and it is just based on an observation but i saw Davis complaining to the refs i believe between the 3rd and 4th quarter and pointing towards those students, then getting upset with the response.  I was wondering what the complaint was, maybe there was so ething i missed.

This is funny that HJ would complain about other fans, when I recall 2 HJ fans being escorted out of the Yates vs HJ game last year for very poor behavior.

I wish I could say it was stellar defense that made this one close but in fact it was a very subpar offensive output by both clubs. Huffman was deliberate in their possessions and had a kid that hit some clutch shots early from the high post. HJ countered early with the post play down low letting them get back in it. Huffman left the door open late with continuous misses from the FT line but the Hawks struggled to pull down a rebound off the misses and seemed to be a step slow on all the loose balls tonight. That resulted in a lot of frustration fouls and had Huffman in the double bonus early in the 4th quarter. HJ never got in the bonus . The game was close but wasn’t very good basketball for a game of this magnitude. It will be hard to  issue any type discipline for the skirmish after the game. It started as what looked like a hard play and a no call and progressed to skirmish after the buzzer. Lots of folks in a wad there including players from both teams and fans. Pretty uneventful game for the most part.

My personal opinion is that this particular incident should be treated as an altercation that occurred on the floor, regardless if it occurred before, during or after the game. Punches was thrown on the court.  If the altercation would have occurred in the parking lot, law enforcement would have gotten involved.  Coaches, and players should be held accountable for their actions.  If the UIL doesn't respond to this incident with suspensions it may open the door for players to just wait until the end of games to seek their revenge.

39-38 for a seeding game between two co-district champs in boys varsity? Is the area down that bad?

I wouldn't judge the score.

The scores from the two district games between the two:

64-44 Huffman

71-58 HJ

This is what makes this particular incident so interesting reading how people describe what occurred from a little brawl, to a skirmish, to a fight where punches was thrown.  You can have 10 witnesses to an incident and get several different stories of what occurred.  Crazy

This is the same HJ team that scored like 28 points against Nederland earlier this year?? I’m definitely judging the score

I assume you are taking into the account that one team went into a stall in the middle of the 3rd quarter?

If refs were still on the court the suspension must be delivered.  According to the rules as long as the refs are still in sight then suspensions can be handed out.

I know if it were my Mustangs involved suspensions would happen.

There is no question of that the officials were trying to seperate in fact one runs from mid court to get to the incident.

I second that, if it were my Lions involved, there would be suspensions without hesitation
