HawkPride4life Posted February 26, 2021 Report Posted February 26, 2021 4th round matchup between HJ & China Springs. China Springs defeated Mexia 40-35. HJ averages at least 50 points at halftime. Either way, you should never underestimate a team. Ready for round 4! Good luck to the Lumberton Lady Raiders and the BU Shewolves in the 4th round! BMTSoulja1 and dj 2 Quote

Mr. Buddy Garrity Posted February 26, 2021 Report Posted February 26, 2021 I'll take HJ over China Spring by 30, but they wont score 100+ this game. dj and bullets13 2 Quote
bullets13 Posted February 26, 2021 Report Posted February 26, 2021 China spring has had a solid season. 20-6, and 5 of those 6 losses are to great teams. That said, they average about 45 points a game. They’ve cracked 50 four times all year and 60 once. I don’t see HJ getting close to 100 in this game, but 70-80 seems likely, and 50 should be more than enough. Quote

drewlsu Posted February 26, 2021 Report Posted February 26, 2021 Not that ranking predicts wins, but China Spring was not in the top 25. Silsbee was ranked #15, why would we expect the score to be less lopsided with this matchup? Quote

$$Buckets$$ Posted February 26, 2021 Report Posted February 26, 2021 Big difference in playing styles in this matchup and moving forward. China Spring guards must be able to handle the pressure consistently in order to make this interesting. HJ's defense against guards is ELITE! How deep is China Spring? Depth will be a big issue also especially with the pace that HJ plays at. HJ goal is 90+ possessions a game. HJ's ultimate goal is to play at a fast pace not to just score 100, it just has been working out like that lol. bullets13, exsoftballplayer and Mr. Buddy Garrity 3 Quote

They're 21-6, so they're obviously a good team. in 18 of those wins they've scored less than 55 points. It's obvious what kind of style they play. They're not going to try and run with HJ. When they break the press they're going to set up in the half court and eat the clock and try and wait until they get their shot. I'd expect them to do this even more against a high powered offense like HJ. Their best defense will be eating the clock. BMTSoulja1 1 Quote

They're going to hold the ball and slow things waaaaaay down against HJ. I don't necessarily think China Spring is any better or worse than Silsbee, but their style is much better suited to keep the score reasonable against HJ. BayouB 1 Quote
SmashMouth Posted February 26, 2021 Report Posted February 26, 2021 All things considered, there is only one highly probable outcome. HJ goes to the next round. 87JAG and exsoftballplayer 2 Quote
gogo1734 Posted February 26, 2021 Report Posted February 26, 2021 It doesn't matter what pace China Springs likes to play at. HJ will control the tempo because they're just better. HJ by 50+ 87JAG 1 Quote

Hook'em Posted February 27, 2021 Report Posted February 27, 2021 Is there anyone in the state in 4A that can play within 20 points of HJ? exsoftballplayer 1 Quote
drewlsu Posted February 27, 2021 Report Posted February 27, 2021 I’m no expert, but I think Fredericksburg and Brownsboro are the next best. Maybe throw in Canyon and Seminole right behind. Like said above, to keep it close though, they will have to slow the tempo way down and I just don’t see how any team can with the talent of HJs guards and high intensity press. Quote
5GallonBucket Posted February 27, 2021 Report Posted February 27, 2021 A team will have to have some top notch guards(at least 3 on the floor at the same time) to even compete with hj and be able to handle the pressure. I just don’t see any team in 4A that has that. Quote
BMTSoulja1 Posted February 27, 2021 Report Posted February 27, 2021 Shoot, Summer Creek lost by 3 too em so there are teams out there that can beat them. Just not in 4a. Lol exsoftballplayer 1 Quote
aTmfan06 Posted February 27, 2021 Report Posted February 27, 2021 China Spring is good at just about every sport it seems lol We beat them in the regional finals in volleyball. But still think HJ is too much... HJ by 23 Quote

Like Drew said, Fredericksburg is very good this year. They’re 26-1 and their only loss was to a 5A school that ended the season at 21-4. Canyon is always good, and are 26-1. They just beat 25-0 Levelland by 25 in the playoffs. Brownsboro is 26-1 and accounts for one of Fairfield’s two losses. I haven’t seen any of these teams play personally, but I would think any of them are capable of beating HJ. Fortunately HJ will only have to face two of them at most the rest of the way out. To elaborate on this, Canyon beat 26-4 (8th ranked) Glenrose by 26 today, and Fredericksburg beat 23-2 (16th ranked) Robstown by 33 today. Both teams are more than capable of competing with the hawks. Quote
