Silsbee vs Huffman Hargrave Region 3 Championship

Recommended Posts

From listening to the Lumberton game, it sounds like Hargrave is really good at drawing charges. Some of our kids (especially Miller) needs to watch themselves with that.

HH seems to be on a roll, but so are we. I'll take Silsbee by 4.

One thing that does sorta concern me is Silsbee hasn't really played many good teams that like slow ball. Need to jump on them early and force the issue a bit.

This will be Silsbee's 4th regional final in last 6 years and 11th in last 17 seasons.

Huffman's first ever regional final.

This will be a very tough game to predict.

Yes it will be... Best of luck to the Tigers! My daughter goes to school there so I’m allowed to be a Silsbee fan to right ?

If you look at common opponents, they stack up about the same. Only difference is Silsbee split with Lumberton and Huffman handled them. I will note that Silsbee was just coming back off a COVID-19 stop for the varsity kids. #10 for Huffman will be a problem. It seems they shoot the 3 very well. Hardin Jefferson did beat Huffman pretty well this year. Silsbee by 4-5. It will be low scoring unless Silsbee can force them into their style of ball. Not sure if this is a team you can press the whole game.

It’s basketball I think the Lumberton and Huffman game was  just one of those games that lumberton had a very bad night and that happens sometimes you have those games, it’s all about matchups ups and Huffman can matchup with silsbee, this should be a great match up and Huffman will be able to slow the pace down pickem game

I think that can all be thrown out the window anyway.  Silsbee played several games at the beginning of the year without key players, then had the covid stuff.  Since the playoffs have started they look like a totally different team.  I'm going to take them over huffman by 10.  I'm hoping so anyway, because all of the stupidity (instigated by huffman fans) at the end of the HJ/HH seeding game is the only reason that HJ lost their first round playoff game.  There's a decent chance had that not happened HJ would at least have had some chance in still being around, as easily as this side of the bracket has played out.

I've been high on HH all year and boy have they delivered, only 1 loss all season... Amazing but I still take the Tigers by 5 here, Silsbee has played a brutal regular season schedule compared to HH and even had the tougher path through the playoffs. They are battle tested and hitting their stride at the right time. Sell out to stop #10 and lets see what the rest of their guys can do vs that Silsbee defense.

You were at the game?  The fans  (high school students) were on the complete opposite end of the gym when the incident happened at the end of the game.  I was at the game, watched a video filmed from HJ's side, and you are incorrect.

    • That’s a heck of a take there. If you could just remove Kountze’s top 6-7 players, you got them.
    • naw, maaaaybe 7, definitely not 8 deep.  today im avoiding sitting by #10s parents, had to move away yesterday.   "put my son back in jub, put my son back in"  and then crying on every little touch of someone.    lets ball out today ktz!
    • Very close game until the 2nd half (mostly the 4th) when Orangefield came unraveled. Worse defensive effort I have seen out of the Bobcats in three years. This team has to get back on D and quit getting beat over the top when pressing. Offensively, non ball handlers continually turn it over and their shot selection is poor. Basic basketball, such as: defensive hustle, boxing out, and taking care of the basketball are the areas the Bobcats need to work on most. Whitmire will get them on point, but he shouldn't have to coach effort at the Varsity Level.  We'll be at McNeese this Friday night at 6pm.
    • I don’t benefit from it, that’s not my area.  But the average cost to imprison someone is around $15k per year (on average in the US) and capital cases cost somewhere between $1.5-$3M with over half being overturned or reduced to life in prison anyway.  These numbers may be inflated since the last report I read but I’m sure it would be on both sides and higher on the DP side if anything. So what’s the point?  We feel better because we got to return the favor on someone (hopefully) who committed a heinous crime?  And I don’t know I can say we have “complicated” it. Which appeal should we cut out?  Our justice system has a pecking order and we have higher courts for a reason. When we are about to impose the ultimate judgment, should we cut steps that other cases have to save a buck?  Or do we not pay for an indigent person’s experts at the trial court level because it’s too expensive? Or do we just lock them up and throw away the key (unless we later find out they weren’t actually guilty, in which case we have a key and a life we haven’t unjustly ended) and save a ton of money?  Seems to me to be an obvious solution but I’m more of a pragmatist.
    • 1 thing for certain. Coach Earned 3 more years to figure it out lol
