Great season for the Falcons.  They certainly benefited from the top several teams in the state being in the northern 2 regions.  But still a great run.   Truth is they had little to no chance against an Argyle.  This result would have been the same 95 times out of 100.  When you have superior size, superior players, and superior coaching, that’s usually lethal.

On another note, I’m not sure I subscribe to Jimmy Hicks’ mantra that “there’s no such thing as a great player having a bad game in a big game.”  But some of y’all needed to tap the brakes there too.

Nailed it.

So I assume this is the opposite of ‘real basketball’...

not sure what you mean by “real basketball”, but both these teams beat a lot of “real teams” to get here. 30+ wins for each of them with only one loss each. That’s about as “real” as it gets.

Need a 35 sec shot clock.

I've been on the fence off and on for this for well over 10yrs, I've accepted it'll never happen in this state. It seems to work well in other states though.

I was about to explain it but nah, that’s alright.  I’ll let you figure it out...

I prefer the kind of basketball that gives my team the best chance to win.  Don’t care if it’s “real” or not.  Argyle does what they do better than any other team in 4A does what they do. Real or not.

I hope UIL never has a shot clock.

I enjoy seeing different styles of play.

It's all real.

I love to watch up tempo basketball but at the high school level we have trouble getting substitutes buzzed in on dead balls in some locations. We’d have to have a 4th official to man the clock.

Lots of other states have 30 - 35 second shot clocks. There's no excuse why it can't work here when it's the norm in other states. If you need an extra person to watch that clock then get one.

There was an Alabama high school game that ended with a score of 6 - 4. Are y`all okay with that? These were 6A schools too, not some little dirt road towns playing one another.

"Our state doesn't have a shot clock, so let's take advantage of it" shouldn't be a viable coaching strategy.

As for Hargrave, it really didn't look like they had much outside of Harvey. They had one other kid who was trying to make something happen and that was it. I really don't know how good they're gonna be next year when he's gone.

They'll win 20+ games and be first or second in a tough district. Losing Harvey obviously hurts, but there are 3 really good starters coming back and more kids coming up. Argyle had made everyone look like that this year.

So did one kid beat a Silsbee team in the regional finals?

Hard to win when you can't make any shots. Silsbee played bad, Hargrave didn't.

Nothing short of a minor miracle they only lost by 6 points.
