MCSoccer Posted March 31, 2021 Report Posted March 31, 2021 This was a great game to watch. Nederlands team was solid against a very strong team from Foster. To look at Richmond Foster at the beginning of the game compared to the boys from Nederland you would have thought it was going to be a blowout. The game went back and forth with each team getting their chances on goal. Nederlands defense was having a strong performance when Foster played a ball across the goal, behind the defender on the left, attacker put the ball far post with a great shot. This goal came within 5 minutes to the end of the half. The second half started with Foster having possession of the ball which they played forward and chipped the ball to the attacker that was on the righthand side of the goal, from there he hit a perfect shot to the upper 90 to make the game 2-0 in the 41st minute. The two teams went at it playing beautiful soccer, great saves made by both teams keepers. around the 60th minute Nederland played a long ball to the righthand side of Fosters 18yd box and the keeper came out and fouled the attacker giving Nederland a penalty kick. The shooter took a short one step stutter to see which way the keeper may go and hit a ball to the keepers right which he made a amazing stop on. The game carried on and Nederland moved up the centerback which gave them a very substantial boost up front but left the defense sort of exposed. Foster would counter with some very good scoring opportunities that Nederlands keeper, who had one of the best performances I have seen at a high school level, kept them in the game. Nederland scored on a put back cross far post with 11 seconds left in the game. I know that I am partial to our area teams, but this Nederland team had some fight in them. Although they lost whatever they lacked in skill, speed, or athleticism, this team had heart and fight and they never gave up. Now there is one, the PNG girls, lets rally around support these girls on their playoff journey. Quote
