UIL, 23-4A committee rule in favor of Dickinson

Violations deemed not severe enough to forfeit seven wins

The Dickinson Gators will live to fight another day.

The District 23-4A Executive Committee and the University Interscholastic League held a meeting at Friendswood High School today and ruled that the Gators will not have to forfeit their seven wins this season.

Dickinson administrators discovered that a player had taken courses in both football and soccer during the current semester, a violation of UIL rules, which states that a student can enroll in only one physical education and/or athletic class.

Dickinson High School principal Mike LaTouche reported the violation to the UIL earlier this week.

The committee and the UIL determined that the violation wasn't severe enough for the Gators to lose their entire season.

The Gators, 3-1 in District play, resume their playoff chase Friday night against La Marque.
