Seahawks travel to Baytown on Saturday

The Lamar State College-Port Arthur men's basketball team travels to

Baytown on Saturday for a 7 p.m. game against the Lee College Runnin'

Rebels, who are led by former PA Memorial standout Dominque Keller, a

pre-season All-American selection this fall.

The Seahawks opened their season Thursday in Beeville with an 80-66

win over Coastal Bend College.

Sophomore guard Noah Cole from Vidor picked up where he left off

last season, scoring 20 points to lead all Lamar State scorers. Freshman

forwards George Williamson from Vidor and Seth Harley from Little

Cypress-Mauriceville each contributed 13 points, while freshman post John

Payton from Beaumont scored 10 points.

Freshman forward P-Nutt Boutte, a former standout at Beaumont Ozen

High School, collared 11 rebounds and added 8 points for the Seahawks.

Lee College finished in the middle of the Region XIV pack in 2007

with a 16-15 overall record and 10-12 in conference play.

Lamar State is 0-5 against Lee in the four years since the college

added intercollegiate sports in 2004. The Seahawks lost twice to the Rebels

this past year.

Lamar State's home opener will be next Tuesday night against Cy-Fair

College. The Seahawks also will play at home next Thursday against Temple

College and Saturday versus Angelina College.

All three games begin at 7 p.m. in the Carl Parker Center, 1800

Lakeshore Drive on the Lamar State campus.
