Man, what a game!!! That was one of the best HD/WH games i've ever seen. Both teams played all out all night.

Here's a game wrapup for those of you who missed it:

West Hardin took control of the game early pounding it with Ethan Tubbs (that kid is a hoss, hopefully he's ok after a 4th qtr. injury) and sneaky trap plays to fullback Patrick Kelly (i think that's his last name). Tubbs punched it in from 8 yards out giving the Oilers a 7-0 lead. The Bobcats tried to run their patented 3 and 4 WR sets and the oilers were stopping it. WH was able to drive down the field with Tyler Copeland making correct reads and captained the Oilers to another TD. The XP was no good, but the Oilers lead 13-0 over HD. It was not looking good for the Bobcat offense, and West Hardin's big line was wearing down the Bobcat defenders. Midway through the 2nd quarter the Bobcats finally hit paydirt with Aaron Cook punching it in for a Bobcat TD after running some powerset themselves. . XP was no good, leaving it at 13-6 Oilers. The Bobcat defense stepped up late in the 2nd quarter and forced the Oilers to punt on their next possesion. QB Sam Elliot hit TE Tre Dickerson for a 36yd TD and the 2PT coversion was good, putting the Cats up 14-13. HD was flagged for a celebration penalty and kicked off 10 yards back. A good return put the Oilers inside the Bobcat 30 yard line with a little over a minute remaining in the first half. After picking up 1 first down, the Bobcat defense held and on 4th down, Tyler Copleand kicked a 27yd field goal with :07 seconds left till halftime. The excitement wasn't over as Adrian Anderson took the ensuing kickoff down the sidelines before being forced out at the Oiler 35yd line, and a facemask penalty gave the Bobcats a few more yards and a final play with no time remaining. They were unable to capitalize.

WH - 16

HD - 14

at the Half

After falling down early in the game, the Bobcats went to a power formation and began running the ball at the Oilers and they continued this trend in the 2nd half. Jarred Bordies was all over the field for the Oilers at linebacker, but HD was moving the ball at will. After an exchange of possesions and a wonderful WH punt, the Bobcats took over on their own 1yd line. On the 5th play of the drive, Bobcat RB Anthony Brooks took it to the house for a spectacular 86yd TD. After failing on the 2PT conversion attemptin the 3rd quarter and the Bobcats lead 20-16 . At this point the Bobcats had at least 10-12 penalites called on them and were really hurting themselves. Holding calls, offsides, false starts, ineligible man downfield, illegal substituion, block below the waist, you name it, and the Bobcats were doing it. West Hardin was playing a very clean game, and neither team had turned the ball over at this point. After kicking off to the Oilers, HD was able to force a punt from West Hardin and began marching on another big drive. Tyree Patterson was pounding the ball for the Cats along with Aaron Cook and Anthony Brooks. The 3rd qtr. ended with the Cats leading 20-16 with most of the momentum. The Bobcats continued the drive into the 4th qtr. when West Hardin stepped up and shutdown the Cats in the redzone. HD went for it on 4th down and Tre Smith was able to make a spectacular catch at the pylon for a Bobcat Touchdown. On the 2PT conversion attempt, Elliot went to Smith again, this time an Oiler defender made a great play on the ball, tipping it in the air around the 2yard line, allowing Smith to tip it back to himself, haul it in and break the goal line. Bobcats lead 28-16. The kickoff after this score was bobbled by a West Hardin player, and HD recovered the ball. Pandimonium breaks out in the Bobcat stands, as we feel a certain vicorty coming. West Hardin was not done though, after HD fumbled on their second play of trying to pound the ball and run out the clock. A heady Oiler fell on the ball for a recovery. Tubbs started rumbling again. After a couple carries on this drive though he was injured on a tackle and was helped off the field. #21 for West Hardin (sorry, not sure of his name) replaced Tubbs and was able to make a few decent runs. After a holding call on the Oilers called back a first down run, the Oilers found themselves in a 4th and long situation. The West Hardin coaching staff called a timeout and was able to make a perfect playcall. They setup a screen pass to #21 and he had blockers in front and ran for a 28yd touchdown. The XP was no good, leaving the game at 28-22 with 2:55 remaining. With HD's leading rusher, Patterson on the sidelines, along with Oiler RB Tubbs as well, the Oilers attempted an onside kick, which initially looked like they may have recovered, but Tre Dickerson came out of the bottom of the pack with the ball and the Bobcats took over. After two short running gains, the Oiler defense stopped A.Anderson for a loss and called a timeout with 1:14 remaining and the Bobcats in a 4th and 9 situation at the 50 yard line. Coach Slack elected to punt the ball which turned out to be a great call. The Oilers came all out for the block but didnt' get it. An Oiler defender attempting the block ran hard into HD's punter. The punt rolled all the way down to the Oiler 1yd line setting up what appeared to be a 99yd field to go with a minute left in the district championship game. Roughing the kicker was called and the Bobcats gained the first down by penalty. They ran out the clock on next couple plays with WH having no timeouts remaining. It was ironic that Hull-Daisetta had an unreal amount of penalties called agianst them the entire game, while West Hardin played excellent penalty free ball for the most part, but the game was put out of reach due to an Oiler penalty (which was a legit call).

Overall that was a great game, and neither team would give in. That's what it's all about. Congratulations Bobcats on an undefeated district championship and gaining the school's 501st all time victory.

Bring on Groveton again, it's playoff time.

You know, you don't come across so tough when you miss spell so many words......  Either you have a learning disability or HD needs better elementary teachers.
