Guest abovetherim Posted November 3, 2007 Report Posted November 3, 2007 Lamar women tip off double header, men take on Incarnate Word at 7:00 Nov. 2, 2007 BEAUMONT - The Lamar University women's basketball team opens the 2007-08 season on Saturday with the first of two exhibition games when they take on the All Stars at 4 p.m. at the Montagne Center. The Lady Cardinals will be followed by the men's team who is taking on Incarnate Word in their first exhibition of the season at 7 p.m. The women's second exhibition will be on Tuesday night, when they host the Houston Jaguars at 6:00 at the Montagne Center. In their Red-White scrimmage on Wednesday night, freshman Tamara Abalde's scored a team-high 29 points and grabbed eight rebounds, while sophomores Ashley Crawford and Jasmine Stewart each scored 16 points. Sophomore and Preseason All-Southland Conference first-teamer Brittney Williams scored 14 points and grabbed eight boards and junior Agnija Reke also scored 14 points during the scrimmage. Also playing well were freshman Shaunice Orabo and junior Emily Spickler, who scored 12 points and 11 points in the scrimmage. Freshman Trashanna Smith also had a solid performance on Wednesday night, scoring eight points and grabbing a team-high nine rebounds. The All Stars All-Stars is a group of former college and pro players that tour around the country playing exhibition games against universities. YoungLUFan Posted November 3, 2007 Report Posted November 3, 2007 I went to the volleyball game tonight and saw most of the lady basketball players there. I've heard talk about their looks and yes they are some fine ladies but they are darn tall too!
