Jack of All Trades Posted May 25, 2021 Report Posted May 25, 2021 Nephew came home today that Coach Wilson resigned. Sad that we can’t keep the good ones. Hopefully we find someone that cares about the boys and game as much he does. Sad day!! Quote
Cherokee88 Posted May 25, 2021 Report Posted May 25, 2021 Wow! Where is Coach Wilson headed? WOS sure has a high turnover rate for basketball coaches. Quote
Jack of All Trades Posted May 25, 2021 Author Report Posted May 25, 2021 Nephew didn’t know just said Coach told them today and took them to their normal Monday workout. Quote
Mr. Buddy Garrity Posted May 25, 2021 Report Posted May 25, 2021 @BMTSoulja1 Any thoughts on who might apply? Quote
catfever Posted May 25, 2021 Report Posted May 25, 2021 So no destination on where he might be going. There aren't any local head jobs available at this time, I don't think. There are some assistant jobs out there though. Lumberton or H-J? Quote

Jack of All Trades Posted May 25, 2021 Author Report Posted May 25, 2021 I asked around and heard from a board member that Wilson has not said much. I do know Wilson don't need money he's retired military and does really good for himself. That's what make him special because he does it for the right reason and not money. He will be missed over here for sure and I am sad to see him go but over here in Mustang Country its next man up. WOSgrad, TxHoops, whsalum and 3 others 6 Quote

I'm not sure what he wants to do at this point. I can certainly find out, though. Last I heard, he was exploring going back to the college ranks. Quote

When competing with a Football school and numbers aren't Big then IMO the turnover rate is gonna be high cause the better athletes are playing Football and the Football coaches aren't concerned about the hoop program. dj 1 Quote
Jack of All Trades Posted May 30, 2021 Author Report Posted May 30, 2021 @hooohead.com Wilson ran his open gyms and there were 40 to 50 kids everyday. He had more young men in the program than I’ve seen over here in years. I talked to someone and they said it was because WOS wouldn’t allow him to keep the gym open and he had to do a request every time he wanted to open the gym. It’s sad we keep running the good ones off. We’re losing a ton of teachers over here to other schools this year. Teachers that went to school here which hurts. Quote
The Dragon Posted May 30, 2021 Report Posted May 30, 2021 This one is a real head scratcher. Mustangs are building a new state of the art basketball facility and they got some really good players coming back. Which one is your nephew, Jack? WOS was playing some really good ball at the end of the year. I thought they gave Huffman a better game than anyone not named Argyle in the playoffs. What was their final record last year? Quote
Cherokee88 Posted May 30, 2021 Report Posted May 30, 2021 According to maxpreps they were 10-16 last year, the new facility will hopefully increase some interest in hoops at WOS. Anybody have any info on possible candidates? Quote

DJ Wilson is his son…he doesn’t have a nephew on the team, lol!! Good luck to Wilson though, I thought he done a great job with what he had for sure!! Quote
Jack of All Trades Posted June 1, 2021 Author Report Posted June 1, 2021 @AggiesAreWe my nephew is Renfro #5 from the past team but he help with WOS summer league. He’s going to college to play at McPhearson. I also have fam running deep at WOS Quote

I stand corrected. 10-16 with those athletes isn't really that great now that I think about it, but I do like Wilson. WOS needs a coach who will come in and teach those guys to be under control along with really athletic. Any applicants? Josh Mitchell would be a good fit. Does WOS pay enough to pull him from the dynasty he's built in Lumberton? Quote

Cherokee88 Posted June 7, 2021 Report Posted June 7, 2021 I wonder who the candidates are for this one? WOS is a building a really nice basketball facility, maybe that will get the interest up. Quote

He’s done a tremendous job in Lumberton but I don’t think the Raiders would qualify as a dynasty 😂 Quote
Jack of All Trades Posted June 19, 2021 Author Report Posted June 19, 2021 Still no coach over here at WOS. Sad that our boys have to go to Lamar and other school gyms to shoot basketball. Good news is our weight room is open everyday. Quote

Jack of All Trades Posted June 23, 2021 Author Report Posted June 23, 2021 We lose Bethea another Head Coach at WOS, he’s going to Evadale. This is alarming that every sport continues to lose coaches. We don’t even have our boys filled and now lose our head girls. Sad, sad, sad. My nephew is still saying the gym has not been open at all this summer. Quote
