You have to throw your "ace" in the semi. If you don't win the semi, you don't play in the final. Many a coach over the 20+ years I have been around HS baseball have made the mistake of saving the "ace" for the finals only to get beat in the semis.

Have to go with your ace.  We went 3 times in my 4 years in HS.  Went 0-3.

Yeah you are right orangefield had many innings with runners on 2nd or 3rd and couldn’t get them in.

"hard to hit a 90 mph fastball from the left side" for a 4A hitter. The Lamar lefty that came from Splendora and led the state in strike outs his senior year is a perfect example, dominated in HS, D1 not so much.
