Preying on kids

The issue I have with this argument, which I hear from the most conservative bunch quite often, is not one of them doesn't have some sort of lifestyle or sin that they're doing regularly.  I don't know you at all, so I don't know what yours is, but I'm positive there's a sin that you do regularly without any real effort to stop.  I've never really understood why homosexuality became the sin that the religious right put up on a pedestal as the "worst" sin.  I guess because it's nasty to think about?

as for the second argument: I already stated I don't want my kids being exposed to stuff like that on Nickolodeon.  But literally every sin is glorified on tv and movies these days, but just like in the previous paragraph, there's only one sin that needs to "quit being shoved down our throats."  It's just a hypocrisy of the church I've never really been able to understand, even with my 20 or so college hours of Christian studies and 4-year degree from a Baptist college.

So there goes that lame argument ......since people do other wrongs let’s just allow all wrongs.

No one has said that they re ok with drunkenness, fornication, etc etc.

in your Christian studies I’m sure you would know how God views same sex relations.

is it wrong ....yes or no?

Just read an article about the late, not so great anymore, Bo Schembechler, sending student athletes to the team doctor for their  physicals, knowing they would be sexually abused.  He even allowed it to happen to his own son.  They were definitely “preying”.    Like 5 GallonBucket said, put your big boy pants on!

Yes, the Bible says it’s wrong.  The point is you hate one and do the others, right? Sure seems that way with a lot of Christians.  Real strong opinions on the bad things that they don’t do, pretty quiet on the things they enjoy.  I’ve never seen you post a thread on here complaining about all of the fornication and drunkenness and violence being shown on tv.  Must’ve missed those threads.  You pretty much confirmed my point, though.

As someone already pointed out, the problem isn't so much homosexuality. Its the demand for me to accept and embrace it and if I don't, I'm the problem. We could start a whole other thread on Christian hypocrisies, some just and some unjust.  This thread is about Nickelodeon being a part of the agenda to indoctrinate our kids. They also play episodes of Friends at night which is not a health show or message to target youth.

I hate all sin....none of us are spotless...some practice sin hourly, daily some not much at all. Some choose a sinful life style and some don’t.

your right I have nt specifically started a thread on said topics,, but I have mentioned in other threads that watching such shows, video games, social media is weakening the human being. We have aided the devil.

“Confirmed your point”

Your point means nothing because in the end homosexual lifestyle is STILL a sinful lifestyle. You can twist and turn it however you want doesn’t change the fact. Now if you don’t believe in the Holy Word then I can understand why you don’t get it.

Yes, we all sin.  I can’t throw stones, but this is not about individuals, it’s about television network(s) throwing stuff at kids they shouldn’t.  Would anyone want those Networks showing pornography?  Of course not.  Young children are not mature enough (IMO) to decide on their gender or sexual orientation.  Kids should be kids.  To many are growing up at to early an age.  I hate to see young kids & teenagers who’ve already lost the sparkle in their eyes.  To many have the eyes of a 40 year old.  Breaks my heart.

In case anyone missed it, read this again. About sums it up for me.

True story. I'm have too many discussions weekly with my 12 year old granddaughter explaining why we, as Christians, oppose to LGBTQ, gay pride, pride month etc. All the while Nicleodean is promoting, indoctrinating the gay life acceptance. She wants to know why I hate gay people. (that's what she's being fed). I'm defending my beliefs to her and trying to explain that we love gay people, love the sinner, hate the sin.

"why we, as Christians, oppose to LGBTQ, gay pride, pride month etc."

Yes what's that you "Christians say"

I judge all things only by the price they shall gain in eternity.

None knows the weight of another's burden.

For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you.

He that well and rightly considereth his own works will find little cause to judge hardly of another.

None are more unjust in their judgments of others than those who have a high opinion of themselves.

Compassion will cure more sins than condemnation.

"Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.

"love the sinner, hate the sin." If you loved the "sinner" you wouldn't oppose their actions, its called hypocrisy...

What is your opinion about what Nickelodeon is doing?

By the way, if you think the Bible tells us not to ever judge the actions of others, you're wrong.

I have no opinion on Nickelodeon as I don't have a dog in the hunt. If a parent chooses to let their children watch it that is their decision, I my grown children allow their children, my grand babies to watch it, NMB.

And to your question about the Bible, I'm a non-believer and it's exactly because of the so called christian hypocrites. That was my only reason for posting, bring up your christian teaching of love as ye shall be loved and they sound just like your average liberal. As long as you agree with the way I view religion, your fine, but if you don't agree with the love the sinner hate the sin, you're not a "real christian".

Never met a christian that also wasn't a hypocrite...

Hey there friend, just like I tell my granddaughter, I'm not judging anyone. My beliefs are based on what God thinks and what his word says. To say that I'm judging is in fact judging me, but I'm Ok with that. We all probably own some level of hypocrisy, me included, whether we admit it of not. However, God loves the sinner but hates the sin and he's no hypocrite.

As a non-believer, would you want your kids taught religion at your publicly funded school?

That's the same way that Christians feel when schools indoctrinate kids with lessons on sexuality that run opposite to the Bible.

My guess is that you wouldn't say "If a parent chooses to let their children watch it that is their decision, I my grown children allow their children, my grand babies to watch it, NMB" in regards to a mandatory Bible study period in public school 3x a week.

When my 4 kids were in school, Klein ISD, I knew what they were teaching. My wife at the time taught in the district and I had a working relationship with the Superintendent.

My belief is irrelevant to that question as my children were given the choice to believe and attend church or not. So for you to guess about my opinion on "mandatory bible study period" we know that would never happen at all. But should that ever happen at a "publicly funded school", I would hope they would teach all religions not just one.

So if you understand the First Amendment, Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or PROHIBITING THE FREE EXERCISE THEREOF; if the school board votes for that curriculum and they were going to teach a course on Different Religions of the World. Then no I would not have a problem if it was that a history of religion. Educate not indoctrinate.

Yes it is a double edge sword, but you understand. I think its fine that you teach your grandchildren as you probably taught your children to be believers and have faith.

And as a non believer, I can say with an open mind and heart to you and your family, have a blessed day.

In the early 70s, we had a Bible class that was an elective in my high school. The class even met 30 minutes before school to get a start on their day. Never heard anything about separation of church and state. Ain’t that weird?

It wasn't a problem, because it was an elective. It wasn't mandatory.

Duh, ya think? Mandatory or not, schools were exposing kids to religion, something that is taboo today. Do you think there are still Bible classes offered as electives in high school?
