I thought he was a Jr? Of course the draft could be a factor. Either way, great season for him.

Juniors are eligible for the baseball draft.

You pretty much have to go after your Jr year in Baseball.  Seniors have no leverage and don’t get paid.  Their signing bonuses are way less because the MLB knows they have no other options.

I knew he was eligible, but I never considered that part. I remember hearing john Patterson's contract as a hs senior in 1996..
