"In this case, an activist attorney demanded Jack create custom cakes in order to ‘test’ Jack and ‘correct the errors’ of his thinking, and the activist even threatened to sue Jack again if the case is dismissed for any reason," Alliance Defending Freedom General Counsel Kristen Waggoner said in a statement. "Radical activists and government officials are targeting artists like Jack because they won’t promote messages on marriage and sexuality that violate their core convictions." Waggoner said the case "represents a disturbing trend: the weaponization of our justice system to ruin those with whom the activists disagree." "We will appeal this decision and continue to defend the freedom of all Americans to peacefully live and work according to their deeply held beliefs without fear of punishment," she said. We keep hearing these folks just want to be left alone to live their lives, fine, I can do that, not my business, but the truth is that there is a very loud group that wants to punish folks that will not put a stamp of approval on their behavior. Why can't these folks just find a baker who will bake the cake for them and move on? Quote
tvc184 Posted June 18, 2021 Report Posted June 18, 2021 Didn’t the Supreme Court decide this already about another Colorado cake baker and just today siding with the Catholic Church unanimously over the city of Philadelphia and the Catholic Church refusal to put foster children with same-sex couples?
