The UT football program has not exactly set the world on fire since coach Charley Strong left either. Ā

Oklahoma is down in the dumps. Ā Deion Sanders is pulling in five star talent to HBCU Jackson State U. Ā Things are in a flux. Ā  Then there is NIL and transfer protocol. Ā Guys I saw playing high school ball five years ago are still playing D-1 basketball and football. Ā I guess will NIL you can make a nice living playing D-1 college sports.

Itā€™s certainly possible. Ā UNCā€™s 13 scholarship players will all make $1M per year before any individual endorsements. Ā They basically put together a $13M per year annuity. Ā Oscar at UK is making $2.7M. Ā Before NIL, you would think there is no way Bijan Robinson would come back to Texas for another year. Ā Not so sure now.Ā

On the same night the volleyball team gets to the natty game šŸ˜‚Ā

Was that what he was waiting on? šŸ˜ I figured he would've committed couple weeks ago.Ā

I like the signing before the players senior season. If heā€™s truly committed he will sign and focus on his senior yr of hs downfall coach gets fired or leaves it screws the playerā€¦.Ā

From the article: TheĀ Los Angeles City CouncilĀ voted unanimously last week to become a "sanctuary city," categorically withholding any municipal assistance to federal immigration authorities despite a bevy of illegal immigrants arrested there for violent crimes and even violence against children this year.Ā  The 13-0 vote last Tuesday comes weeks after President-elect Donald Trump's ballot-box victory and in the same year that dozens of illegal immigrants were picked up by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcementā€™s (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) officers in the L.A. metro area for murder, homicide and assault against children.Ā  So far this year, Los Angeles ERO has arrested 1,263 illegal immigrants in the metro area so far this year,Ā and 715 of them had criminal convictions, according to ICE data. The agency gathered 19,726 noncitizens between 2021 and 2024,Ā and 7,255 of them, about 36%, had prior criminal convictions. That includes 26 illegal immigrants with pending charges or convictions for murder, homicide and assault against children who were arrested in the Los Angeles area during a nationwide operation from Jan. 16-28, ICE said.

    • Take a look at this chart. Ā It shows how many kids per year transfer outside of the District WHILE LIVING IN GCCISD DISTRICT. Ā They reside within GCCISD, but attend school outside of it. Ā These numbers are straight from TEA. ā€œTEA maintains data on students living in Goose Creek CISD who attend other public schoolsā€, So weā€™re not even talking about kids whose families move or who use MeeMawā€™s address. Ā Thatā€™s 100+ per year who still live in GCCISD and hitch a ride out to BHISD and back each day. Ā A lot of cars in that car rider line out of Baytown. Ā You think at least 10% of them arenā€™t athletes? Ā Maybe more like 20%? Ā Cā€™mon, man, itā€™s plain to see and like Iā€™ve been telling other folks ALL the successful programs do it. Ā Itā€™s just gonna get a LITTLE harder to do it after 8/1/25, thatā€™s all. Ā Wonā€™t stop it, might not even slow it down much, but itā€™s gonna affect things a bit.
    • I forgot basketball is Division 1 and 2 now. So BH may have a chanceĀ
    • BHISD isnā€™t all Riceland, thereā€™s plenty of cheaper houses, trailer parks, RV Parks, etc and I hear thereā€™s Apartment Complexes going in soon. Ā Also, you donā€™t even have to move there as long as youā€™ve got a MeeMaw or Auntie in BHISD zone, you just sign an affidavit that your kid is living with MeeMaw or Auntie and theyā€™re in. Ā Donā€™t take my word for it, I already posted GCCISDs numbers showing twice as many GCCISD kids are transferring to BHISD than to the other surrounding Districts, 100+ per year. Ā If only 10% of those are for athletic purposes thatā€™s 10 athletes a year minimum and Iā€™m willing to bet itā€™s a little higher. Ā  Whatā€™s also true and the point I was trying to make there is that as Riceland fills up itā€™s definitely going to change BHISD. Ā Those homes start at $500k and run up past $1M. Ā Gonna be a lot less ā€œCountryā€ and a lot more White Collar.
