There is evidently a bee UIL rule that is a judgement call and will be unevenly enforced. Bands can’t play if the other team can’t hear. They evidently forgot that band is there to support and that crowd noise is part of the game. The game I was at one band was “too loud”. If anyone else sees this happen this year please post.

It's not a new rule at all, it's just rarely enforced.

I assumed it was new as this the first time I’ve ever seen it enforced in 30+ years of watching HS games

Coach Hooks personally explained how we caused a penalty once... it never happened again.

I feel like the Marching Heat is bung attacked lol

This will definitely affect show style bands like Marching Heat and Soul of the South.

I agree. Rarely called especially if a coach also wants to use it as an advantage. It should be allowed.

That’s why we (newton) try not to have all 29 band members playing at the same time.

I did see a team penalized not long ago because their band did not get off the field at the end of halftime.

Coach Dubois would lose his mind because the band would stay down on the track behind the team and play nonstop after halftime. It was the band’s “tractivities.”  They were horribly disruptive to their own team and they finally put an end to it.

It's ashamed when schools don't want as many of their students to participate in extra-curricular activities as possible. Maybe they should use that rule on PNG with Cherokee.😂

Well we certainly did.

Its rare but I have seen bands play on while a hurt player was down on the field, and I hate it when two bands play at the same time. Courtesy still counts, even at football games.

Just like the NCAA is slowly evaporating so will the UIL with these no so appealing rules.
