Guest Indian Chief Posted November 6, 2007 Report Posted November 6, 2007 Home field for district champs With all the talk about watered down playoffs, here's a suggestion for making district championships mean something: the district champ gets a home playoff in the first round, period. You could also have the top team in D1& D2 have 1st round home games, or you could have dist. champs who make it to the 2nd round have another home game. But it would reward teams for winning the district championship, and it only seems fair. What do you think?
PURPLE 4EVER Posted November 6, 2007 Report Posted November 6, 2007 Good idea...Don't think the coaches would go for it.

In Div 1, you can get two district champions playing each other in the first round. Example, Silsbee was district champs in '04 and played Palestine, who also were district champs, in the first round. It happens alot in Div 1.
24 over par Posted November 6, 2007 Report Posted November 6, 2007 i say go the other way shorten the regular season to 8 games and let everybody in, seed teams thru district meetings after the 8th game and let the mahem follow maybe give top 3 seeds home games and go from there blow outs in the early rounds but that would just be part of it then lumberton would be in the playoffs every year
southern-thunder Posted November 6, 2007 Report Posted November 6, 2007 The biggest reward for making the playoffs is getting to play in bigger nicer venues. Getting to travel to stadiums that you dont get to play in on a regular occasion, so maybe not get to play at home but maybe getting to decide where you play with out having to get the other team to agree to it.
kville_extreme Posted November 6, 2007 Report Posted November 6, 2007 24 over par, SHAATTUUPP! narrowing the regular season down to 8 games is ridiculous. it's like cutting off texas football's leg?

bmtdc1996 Posted November 6, 2007 Report Posted November 6, 2007 While I can agree that the kids look forward to traveling to bigger playoff venues, I agree about letting District Champs have the first round at home. That is coming from a fan's perspective. Now from the coaches perspective, I can agree that you wouldn't want to play at an opponent's home field in the playoffs. It would be nice to be able to go see a first round game around here without having to travel a couple of hours one direction or another.
WarPaint Posted November 6, 2007 Report Posted November 6, 2007 Someone said it might go to 4 teams making the playoffs next year! Is that true, if so why not just let everyone go with out playing!I remember when it was just the best 1 went
KFDM COOP Posted November 6, 2007 Report Posted November 6, 2007 If that happens it would be 4A only next time. It will be voted on in Jan.
setxguru Posted November 6, 2007 Report Posted November 6, 2007 Another problem that you would run into would be if you have a real tough district that plays a real weak district in the first round. Last year the WOS district was waaayyyy better than the spendora district. That would have put a team like Silsbee possibly playing at somebody elses home stadium. Not a good plan.
Guest Sangster05 Posted November 6, 2007 Report Posted November 6, 2007 4 teams making the playoffs is rediculous. So basically finish in the top have of your district and youre in, wow. Thats abour right these days...
FPDAD Posted November 6, 2007 Report Posted November 6, 2007 That's what I call "No Child Left Behind" ;D
