Nilsson Ties for Second; Lamar Ties for Seventh at 2007 Challenge at Wolfdancer

BASTROP - Junior Therese Nilsson tied for second place, helping the Lamar University women's golf team to a seventh place finish following Monday's final round at the 2007 Challenge at Wolfdancer hosted by Texas State at Wolfdancer Golf Club (Par-72, 6,093-yards).

Nilsson, a Vellinge, Sweden native, posted her second consecutive round of even-par 72 Monday and tied for second place with a 54-hole score of 5-over 77-72-72--221. Seul Ki Park of Illinois also posted a 221 total. Hannah Burke of Baylor shot a career-low round of 5-under par 67 Monday to claim medalist honors with a 54-hole score of 1-over 217.

Northwestern, who held the 36-hole lead, won the team championship with a 54-hole total of 911. Iowa State was second at 916, followed by Middle Tennessee (921), Baylor (924) and Illinois (933). Lamar shot a final round 312 and tied fellow Southland Conference member Texas State for seventh place with a 54-hole total of 310-317-312--939.

Linda Persson, a sophomore from Hollviken, Sweden, shot a final round 77 and tied for 25th at 77-84-77--238. Hillary Zeigler, a senior from Livingston, carded a final round 81 and tied for 35th place at 77-82-81--240. Channing Norton, a junior from Cleveland, shot a final round 82 and tied for 46th at 79-82-82--243. Bonnie Howard, a senior from Carrollton, also shot a final round 82 and tied for 48th at 81-81-82--244.

This was the Lady Cardinals' final tournament of the fall semester. Lamar will open the spring season Feb. 11-12 at the McNeese State Cowgirl Classic.
