Seahawks face Cy-Fair in home opener Tuesday

The Lamar State College-Port Arthur men's basketball team will be at

home for the first time this season on Tuesday, when they play Cy-Fair

College at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Carl Parker Center, 1800 Lakeshore Drive on

the Lamar State campus.

The Seahawks are 1-1 after opening on the road with an 86-66 win

over Coastal Bend College in Beeville this past Thursday, followed by a

95-74 loss at Lee College in Baytown on Saturday.

Lee overpowered Lamar State with three-pointers, hitting 10 treys in

the first half to post a 57-38 half-time lead.

Lamar State had four players in double points, led by sophomore

forward Cody Guidry and freshmen forwards Seth Harley and Andre Boute, all

with 12 points.

Seahawks freshman forward George Williamson added 10 points, while

sophomore guard Noah Cole, the Seahawks' leading scorer, was held to nine

points. Cole is averaging 14.5 points per game this year.

Cy-Fair is one of several schools in the North Harris

County-Montgomery County Community College District that previously had club

sports and now are adding intercollegiate sports.

Cy-Fair currently is 8-4, coming off a 54-28 win over Tomball

College on Saturday

Lamar State plays at home twice more this week, facing Temple

College on Thursday and Angelina College on Saturday.

Both games begin at 7 p.m. in the Parker Center.

This is definitely the most talent LSC-PA has had to date. But, if they are really serious about athletics there; housing and a meal plan is needed to recruit around the state and beyond.

I would love to see LSC-PA expand it's athletics, I hear they are going back to the higher level of NJCAA ball next year, hopefully they have the funding and housing in place to do it.Would also LOVE LOVE LOVE to see the addition of more sports there. Men's and Womens cross country is low cost and requires no facilities. if they could get some help with recruiting from the lamar coaches I'm sure they could fill out a pretty decent roster!

Anyone have any info on weather there are any plans afoot for extra sports?

And how about a LSC-PA thread on this forum!! ;D ;D
