Was that back in the Rick Colbert days or farther back than that? He was lightning fast and a great athlete but not necessarily a good QB for that type of offense.

Yes.  They had an undefeated team throughout junior high and freshman year and looked to be like a really good team.  Brought in a spread/west coast style offense for 03-04 and it completely messed up the slot t timing those kids were used to.  Rick Culbert went on to get a scholarship to Arkansas and played one season.  Sean O'Bannion, another speedster, now does some coaching for the pirates.  You're right though; Rick was fast.  Saw him clocked at low 4.4 range many times, along with Brock Sherrod, and Sean.  I seem to remember Rick running a 4.37 once.  FLYING.

It’s Sunday now and I believe the shock is beginning to wear off! I’m starting to get feeling back. Church, then Cowboys, then watch a lil Lindale film.

When we played them in the playoffs last year they had a big D1 RB who was a load and a tall D1 DE that they would bring in at WR to throw him the jump ball. I believe those guys are gone but they still have their QB who is really good and a couple of nice receivers from last years team. Their offense was a multiple set, balanced attack.

Cowboys better wake up in hurry…

Won’t be long and Vidor will be back in 5A. I can see Vidor and Lumberton taking Crosby’s and Barber Hills spot when those 2 move up a classification.

What makes you think Vidor will be back in 5A… just curious

Vidor & Lumberton should both be good for the next 2 yrs!

Oh they’re good for sure for the next two years… and honestly I don’t see Vidor moving up beyond that in any near future.    I was just curious what made them think Vidor would be moving up… there is no evidence to suggest that will happen…Lumberton is growing so I could see them moving up sooner or later

All our growth is in the younger age. New subdivisions are younger couples with young kids. Haven’t hit the high school yet.

Watch their tacking on defense, the highlights I saw for both sides looks like we can beat their defense, we just got to slow their offense.

That was when Rick Culbert was the qb, yep. He was backup qb the year before but mainly played defense and he was darn good at that too. Every so often he'd be on offense for receiver. Great athlete. Dangerous return man. Not ideal for West coast offense. I can only believe that west coast was implemented due to the 7 on 7 success of that group. I would have loved to have this offense with that group. Not saying they had better athletes but it would have been interesting. And the defense from 00-02 ... just game changing.

Do you remember what offense Vidor ran between 04-06 before we switched to the Slot T when Haegquist (sp?) was QB?

Evidently Dist 9 takes a lackadaisical approach to defense.  Their game plan is simply to outscore the other team.

i do not remember it specifically, but i did manage to catch a few games in those years. I thought Andy was a solid threat at QB. He had the wheels to take off and burn. Seemed to be pretty balanced attack though. I found this highlight reel on youtube. I see wishbone, i formation, and veer for sure. Andy seemed to target #5 Perry a lot, as he was a pretty good receiver in his own right.

That’s awesome, good music too. That RB 32 had some wheels, love watching Vidor sling that ball around lol. Man those gold helmets were sweet.

We suffered two season ending injuries for starters Friday.

I know a line backer. What other position? LuMberton Vidor and I’m assuming Huffman is still banged up. LCM is fully healthy to my knowledge and will be getting a linemen back this week from a mcl sprain.

LB - ACL

Offensive Left Tackle - Broken Fibula

I absolutely hate hearing about this, especially right when the playoffs are beginning. I heard about the LB, and I told RaiderGirl that during pretty much the first half, I seen him limping and grabbing his knee. Hate that for y'all!

The OT was a great player too.

The OL - no headlines and little or no recognition, but to have a winning team, one of the most important components.  Without a good effort from them QB’s can’t setup and make their throws, RB’s rarely clear the line of scrimmage.  Them hoggs make things work.

    • Sorry sir on my miss count. I was in hurry
    • Are they offering refuge to criminals? Or is it a Trump talking point? Refugees are people who leave their country due to unwarranted prosecution. I actually take care of 2 refugee kids who have complex medical needs   No, refugees are not criminals, and the assumption that they are more likely to be criminals than the general population is incorrect:                                                                                          Research shows immigrants commit crimes at lower rates Immigrants in the United States commit crimes at lower rates than the U.S.-born population, including unauthorized immigrants. This is true across immigrant groups.                  Immigration doesn't raise crime rates Immigrants don't raise crime rates in the communities where they settle. In fact, some studies suggest that immigration can lower crime rates, especially violent crime.                  Anti-immigration politicians have spread a myth Anti-immigration politicians have repeatedly tried to link immigrants to crime, but research shows this is a myth.                  Refugees don't cause crime in Turkey A study found that refugees don't have a causal effect on crime rates in Turkey. In fact, the study found that refugees may have a negative effect on crime rates per capita.
    • I think it's actually the first time ever to get past the second round. Some older folks might try to tell you about Scott High but I wasn't here when that school was around 😆
    • Smith is 78-31 overall and 18-8 in the playoffs. His first three years he went 23-15 overall and 6-3 in playoffs. His Silsbee teams are averaging making 3rd round every year in his 9 years as head coach.
    • Wishing everyone a great Thanksgiving!
