Lamar should go get Chris Beard for next season. He's gotta coach somewhere, why not here? I'm tired of bad basketball in the Montagne Center.

I know injuries are a part of the game but Brooks has been as snakebit as they come.  The Cards have 8 players available tonight, 2 of them walk ons and another who was a walk on.  It’s tough to win when you have 4-5 players who have started hurt.

The Cardinals might be the worst team in D1 right now. They sorely need a guy like him, but there will be schools in better positions to win that have more cache' (and cash) lining up to hire him that won't care about the PR hit that would come with it.

Might be the worst? Bruh, i don't know if they would qualify for the playoffs in United's district right now. It is a terribly coached team lacking even mediocre Division I talent. Not one starter would be a six man on any other SLC team right now and that's saying something because the Southland is terrible.

The new regime had no ties to the current staff. And if they say they are committed to raising the stature if the school, they find the cash. I haven't wrote a check in a few years because I've been disgusted at the product. Chris Beard would open my pockets again.

Beard and his fiancee need counseling, but bring them to Beaumont.

There's no doubt that bringing him in would be huge for LU in a lot of ways even beyond basketball, but is it realistic given his ability and the lack of money in the program? Why would he choose LU over any other school that would offer more to help him rebuild his career?

Don't get me wrong. I've loved LU basketball all my life and I think they should be one of the top mid-major basketball programs in the country, but I just can't see why he would do it.

BTW- LU was my first thought the minute UT announced the separation. That always crosses my mind any high-profile football or basketball coach has something like this happen.

Yep 8 of 10 Southland on that poll are ranked 276 or below.

5 of 10 Southland are ranked 336 or below...two of the 336 and below have blown out Lamar.

put up a good fight today...Lamar had 3 out of their 8 players foul out and another with 4 fouls

shot 51.6 percent from the floor including 50 percent on 12 of 24 three pointers.

Lamar just got screwed out of a win.  At the 3:25ish mark, a SELA shoots about a 17 footer with both feet inside the line.  The officials signal 3, both the Harold Mann and the ESPN broadcasts both marvel at the fact it was called a 2 but BOTH said something along the lines of, I guess we didn’t have a good view or what do I know.  The clock counts it as a 2 so I’m guessing the LU staff would have thought it was scored correctly.  Fast forward to the 2:39 mark in the game and they add a point to SELA’s score as Lamar is getting ready to shoot free throws.  And no one said boo.  Really tough one for the cards.

We were only down I think 8 at half time

and coach deane couldn’t check his pride…he didn’t play one of our better guards in Ron Austin…dude had a quick first step and had bounce.

Lamar hangs on at home for a 69-66 victory over Nicholls state.

At least the last two games have been more competitive. Nine players had minutes tonight.
