I’m too far removed from the school to have any knowledge of the “players are out for grades” comments. I have no idea if there is any truth. I do know the school enforces the rules. Last year the QB tested the rule and sat for 3 weeks. Insert McHenry into the  QB position and it was his job the rest of the way. The old QB became a pretty salty WR. Stanford is more interested in his players being productive members of society after football than winning a game (and yes if we work as a TEAM we can win). Many of these kids are from disadvantaged backgrounds. Don’t care for some of the innuendos.

I wasn't making innuendos they must have moved their reporting period or they broke the rules its that simple. I've dealt with UIL eligibility periods for 7 years now I know how they work. 1st hand knowledge. I'm sure the website on the Texarkana website schedule is just wrong, did yall lsoe some time earlier in the year to storms or something?

I don’t live in the area, so have no clue. Have no clue if any players out with grades. Another possibility is they broke team rules and are being benched. Honestly too far removed from the program. Thanks to live-streaming, have been able to watch 11 of 12 games. My views are through the lens of a camera held by a student in all but the PNG game.

Actually we have three common opponents, which is unusual.

Crosby 57 Texas City 28

Texas High 31 Texas City 0

I am interested in the Crosby district mates that have played the Tigers, honest assessment. I think your opening comments are fair. The key for Texas High will rest with the 11 that brought them to this point - the defense. They don’t need to over commit as they did last year. I think one of the interesting battles will be the Cougar passing game versus the Tiger’s secondary. I am impressed that Myles only has 3 interceptions. He will be facing an opportunistic group that has 20-25 INTs this season. Looking forward to the rematch.

TH defensive line will be a handful for Crosby. My guess is Crosby wins by 10.

Someone posted on another board. The school calendar is correct and four players did not make their grades. The kids were ineligible for the Texas City game, but were eligible for the PNG game as TISD was off all week for Thanksgiving (UIL allows kids to play during the holidays). As school is in session this week, they are again ineligible. They were eligible for the Fulshear game as it was played on Thursday and grades came out Friday. Not sure exactly how it works, but I suspect they regain eligibility next Friday. Makes the task Friday harder for sure. Hope this answers the questions and quashes concerns on participation in previous games.

Sounds like Fulshear should have not played on Thursday.

Alright people saying this is a slightly better Texas City defense are smoking the good stuff.

Texas High is very very fast on defense in the front 7. That can cause problems and did for PNG. They are not the size of A&M/BH/Manvel at the LOS that's 100% correct. We will also be a way faster team overall than they are used to but that was a clinic on how to shut down that PNG offense and they did it almost identically to Crosby's game plan versus PNG.

I do think if they try to play 1 on 1 with our receiver's we will win that battle quite often. Especially on the RPO if they keep trying to send 6. I also think Cyrin will have a field day with the pressure on the designed QB run. The Counter will be key in the gameplan as well. No reason Crosby can't hang a big number in this game but that defense can be very very disruptive.

Crosby will need to be sharp because we will have to make quick reads and the correct reads. The offense that Crosby runs is fully prepared for Texas High's speed but we haven't seen a team as fast on defense since we played PAM. I expect a similar gameplan and similar results offensively.

Defensively I like the match up for the Cougars, no dominate Offensive linemen, nothing like we saw last week and their running back is solid but he's not as good as #23 from A&M, he was getting arm tackled all game long so just got to get some pads to him and he goes down. He's the classic really fast track kid playing running back if the hole is big and he gets open space he can make plays. Honestly this team looks like a less offensively talented PAM.  The big difference OFC is PAM has to play in 5AD1.

I think you have fairly assessed. The only thing I would correct is the assessment of Stewart as a track kid playing running back. He is a running back with speed. You are correct he is different from the AMC back who is a power back. He is a patient back. Some backs run full speed to the called hole in the line. He is patient for the holes to open and is deceptively strong. He is a quality back and his backup is a tough runner. Our OL is down a step from last year and they are going to open up some holes. I do expect the Tigers to try to have sustained drives to reduce the number of possessions the Cougar offense has and to keep the defense rested. I agree that the Tiger offense cannot win a track meet with Crosby.

The AMC RB is not a power back. He was a small quick back that ran around the corner that the o-line sealed off. Once he got to our secondary, he was taken down by one of our defenders. Sometimes having to run him down. But definitely not a power back.

Didn't matter which back it was we KO'D the starter and the backup did the same. Any back worth their salt would've had success with that line

Much respect for Texas HS. Some would fudge things, and sweep it under the rug just to keep players on the field. THS apparently does not do that. Much respect!

Stanford is a straight up guy. I believe he understands the quality of life of students from the age of 19 to death is more important than a football game. It is all about priorities and hopefully it is a life lesson.

I wish everyone could realize that. Too many hot shot high schools stars end up not even playing collegiate ball, and some sadly enough, end up with tough lives.

Props to your coach!

Texarkana Texas High (12-0) vs Crosby (11-2), 7:30 p.m. Friday at Lufkin’s Martin Stadium: It’s a rematch of an area round playoff game from a year ago, when Crosby announced themselves as a bona fide state title contender with a rout of unbeaten Texarkana Texas High. Once again unbeaten Texas High takes on Crosby, but this time the roles are reversed as Crosby comes into this one as the favorite on the strength of a strong regular season and the pedigree of last year’s run to a state title game. Last week Texas High crossed state lines into Louisiana and took care of Crosby’s district rival Port Neches-Groves with relative ease in a 44-21 win. RB Braylon Stewart continued his tear in the playoffs rushing for 190 yards and three touchdowns, while the Tigers defense held an explosive off from PNG to just 258 yards, with much of that coming when the game was well in-hand in the fourth quarter. Crosby on the other hand, had to hold off a furious rally from A&M Consolidated in a 53-50 victory. QB Cyrin Myles threw for 268 yards and added 122 yards rushing and three touchdowns, while WR/DB Kamren Kirkwood had over 200 total yards, a receiving touchdown and he picked off two passes for the Cougars as well. Last year Crosby’s offense threw up 62 points in their blowout of Texas High, that loss hasn’t been forgotten up in Texarkana so expect the Tigers defense to play inspired football, but will that be enough to slow down this incredibly dynamic Crosby attack? Stepp’s Pick: Crosby by 9
