Playoffs not a factor in this one. Think it was voted on by the coaches at the end of the regular season. He could get coach of the year for the entire state for the turnaround in bear country. I think he won it before at WB after their loss in the championship game.

All district selections are done before playoffs start. It's only based on district play.

It's released after the last team is out of the playoffs.

Thats because selections are made prior to playoffs....🤦‍♂️

and with that being the case....Mathews is Coach of the year!

The COY choice could've went either way, imo. Peevey had a really impressive turnaround and Mathews pulled off a few crazy last minute wins all season.

nah, this award was hands down peevey's with or without the playoffs.  The bears went 1-7 last year.  they were 8-2 at the time this award was decided this year.  Results from the playoffs only make it more obvious.

I think this sums it up best. And likely Peevey didnt vote for himself, but Mathews did. Anyway, these awards are more for the players. Congrats too all of them.

Playoffs or not. Thats still peevys. Vidor was picked to finish around top in district. Congrats either way

Sums it up correctly! Mathew’s IS C’coach of the year! Always next year peevey

Hard to argue the coach of the district's top seed earning Coach of The Year. But IDK if any other coach anywhere could have done what Peevey did for LCM this season. .......Now lets just pray it wasnt a fluke and continues next season!! lol

I think Peevey had the most accomplish season, even in district, not begrudging Matthews though. Lander with Lumberton could have been considered as well.

No doubt Matthews runs a tight ship (get it) and if just looking at the regular season it's a toss up. Congratulations to all the coaches and players. 2022 is going to be a good one.

The whole District improved.  LCM had a great run.  Vidor lost their first game by 5 to the improved 4th place finisher, Chapel Hill, who’s in the State Semi-Finals.  Huffman & Lumberton made a good account of themselves before falling to Kilgore & Lindale.  I look for the whole District to improve again next year.  The four teams going forward in 2022 will be formidable.

I have a feeling the district may have bonus matchups after the regular season is over next year.
