ladybug33
Its still not clear to me weather people are entitled to this information or not. School boards have rules that protect their employees. Q. To what extent can a state or local administrator restrict access to, or release of, staff records? A. State or local administrators may restrict access to, or release of, staff records as permitted by their state laws and statutes. State or school board rules may also have policies regarding this issue. However, even with public records, the administrator has an ethical responsibility to protect the records’ integrity and allow access only for legitimate purposes. School boards have rules that protect their employees. Key word there is "employees". Not sure how much protection for applicants. This is almost guaranteed to be political. We want to make sure the board hires the best possible candidate, period. When the announcement is made, people will say show us the list of applicants. And if someone else has been passed over, then we'll see more petitions. I've seen many political signs going up around town, but nothing for school board yet. Hopefully they get it right. But I see no clear cut winner, lose-lose situation. And the ones who will suffer are the kids. It's a shame that I don't have more confidence that the program will continue as we have all come to expect. 112%

Job applicants nor employees should not be subject to having their personal information published just because they applied for a HC football position and, people want to know because they pay taxes smh. I don’t believe that we will know everyone who applied. As far as getting it right and kids suffering, well I trust the process, and the people who are making the decisions. dj

I People want to know because they vote for these board members to make these tough decisions. For example, if coach "A" has a proven record as a leader and a winner, but is passed over for an inexperienced coach "C". Some would like to know the reason for the decision. BTW, only property owners pay taxes, but even they don't get a vote if they have moved out of the district. I know many members here don't reside within WOCISD. But that doesn't mean they don't still bleed blue and silver. Reagan, marshman and Gasilla

Using your example, coach A may have a winning record but may not be right for the football team, maybe coach B will do a better job with bringing back the culture that is WOS. Discipline is really important and have gone by the way side lately.

Have we lost the culture of WOS football in recent years? Or is it the major culture change across the nation that is driving change in so many areas. Discipline included. 5GallonBucket
ladybug33
Once again…my focus is and has always been the culture of WOS football. Discipline, determination, respectfulness, focus. I have shouted those adjectives though out the season in my posts. Yes, these characteristics have been missing for a few years, even though we have been winning a few rounds into the playoffs. I’m not wasting my time explaining the culture change across the nation, that’s political and is not my focus tonight. Example of what I’m talking about… players wearing their shirts rolled up or, T shirts hanging out of their jerseys. Dancing on the sidelines. Fighting on the field 99, these are my concerns, and they are bad football culture characteristics. Who will be hired to turn around these football culture changes at WOS, will be up to the school board and not to fans near or far. B&W ok. I'm done with explaining WOS culture in football period... mat
I’m a WOS fan and I fully understand the strong concern for the right fit of the head coach and interest of all applicants. If the WOS supporters had as much interest in applicants when hiring a principal or other administrative positions, WOS would excel in more areas than just football. As someone said, there’s more important things than football. AggiesAreWe, Fevertree, Mr. Buddy Garrity and 1 other 3

My niece will finish in the top 6 in her class in 2022. I very proud of her. I’m’ only saying top 6 so she won’t get upset with me lol but it could be higher. Parents should be the ones who are more involved with communicating with principals and, administrators when there are problems at a particular school. IMO the decision has already been made as to who will be the HC at WOS next year. No matter who they may be, I will support them, and I will keep supporting the team. Change can be difficult for some people; I always observe first then make my decisions to approve or disapprove. mat

From your post,These characteristics been missing a few years, who will be hired to turn around these football culture changes at WOS???Seems like you’re saying leadership hasn’t been good enough to stop these bad “characteristics “,1 thing for you…coach T ran the most tight and disciplined ship in the area, maybe state and that’s a fact. You see what happens when he tried to keep it that way and get a kid off the team 3 yes 3 times, people want to run him off!!All this is political as stated above and the kids at WOS will directly feel the impacts. You think all the dancing and fighting been bad lately?Watch and see where it goes when WOS gets this coach that will bring it! No that is not what I am saying. As educators people expect us to be babysitters and raise their kids. Parents should do their job and teach their children to respect adults. Sometimes kids tune teachers and coaches out, that can be frustrating as an educator. The rest of your post is your feelings about things and that's fine for you. I am an open minded person who believes that change can be good.

marshman
It’s been a great great run at WO-S dating back to 1985. Actually earlier as we had some really good teams before then but only the district champ advanced to playoffs then. The 9-1 1980 team really stands out to me as one that could have made a very deep run but finished 2nd in district to #1 ranked TJ. Guess everything has a time and place and Everything eventually comes to an end. As the old song says, “everything turns, turns, turns”. purpleeagle
You would think the people on this site are picking the next coach and you even argue over who it should be. It don’t work that way. The school board along with the recommendation from the Superintendent and coach T will make that decision. You have already had remarks on this site about voting board members out of office. You elected them and should respect their decision. I don’t think any of you so called Experts know more about football than Coach T. Gasilla
