Glad you picked up on that. What can I say? Obviously WOS priorities aren't always where they should be.

We voted for a bond to build new schools years ago. And test scores are still down. Is it the teachers? I'm not sure. Why do we not have honors/ap prep classes at the HS? Do we have teachers not capable of doing their job? Again I'm not sure.

Don't forget the first part of student-athletes, is always the most important.

I know that was not your implication but school buildings do not make students. I was fortunate enough to start high school so many years ago (50 years) in a brand “new” and “modern” high school. I was in the first class that at no point had to go to the “old” high school. That school is about to be replaced with a bond issue and I’m sure the students will love the new school.  But will they improve their grades? I don’t think so.

New football stadiums, new turf, new scoreboards,  new schools, etc., are all great but they will improve anything except looking at nice new things?

In the same school district where I went to a new high school 50 years ago, they are still using an elementary school that is 110 years old. They also have a football stadium which is almost 70 years old and until last year did not have turf yet Nederland still managed to win 3 consecutive undefeated district championships on one of the last grass fields in the area from 2011-2013. (Of course some people claim that’s why they won :) :) :) …. something to do with moisture….)

With their football tradition, nice home side (and crappy 1930’s visitor’s side) and field house/turf/scoreboard, PNG is still in a high school built probably 75 years ago.

Shiny new things are nice and I’m happy for the people that get them. The clothes don’t make the person however……

In fairness, the same news network has reported on PA and Beaumont low scores too. They reported on the higher scoring districts as well.

I’m alway rooting for WOS but the low score trends year after year needs to improve.

I’d like to look at the test scores and socioeconomics of all of the state champs…I’m not certain, but I’d be willing to bet most of them are high in both categories

WOS will be WOS. They will just turn the page and move on.  They haven't lost a district game in like 12 years and I see no reason for that to change.  Recent events has some folk imagining premature tales of woe, raising hopes that after 50+ years the bully(WOS) is finally losing it.  Not gonna happen.  This reminds me of that movie where all these folk are fleeing Godzilla(WOS),,,running, screaming, panting, pooting......but they finally lose a step and are.....well.....kilt.  I am really looking forward to the Coach Hickman era at WOS.

What was the case against Ferguson?

He was fired, or resigned from Shelbyville back in 2016 or 2017, for domestic violence.   It was a pretty bad case too (not that any case is good).

But like I said a few days ago, not sure what ever happened with that case.   Apparently he’s coaching at Carlisle, so maybe charges were dismissed or reduced.

The guy is a heckuva coach though.

In all fairness, you could probably find someone at Wal Mart and maybe even OCARC and go undefeated in that district with the athletes WOS has.

It’s not if you win district, but how they win. WOS don’t usually know what they have until 2nd or 3rd round.

Point taken on the top to bottom district strength but the boys can only play who's in front of them.  The having to wait til the 2nd or 3rd round to see what they have don't fly.  WOS historically plays a sound predisdtrict schedule and the coaches had a pretty good clue what they had. Of course there are exceptions but as a rule they try to schedule quality opponents and people aren't exactly jockeying for position to play WOS.

Is he gets smashed in pre district then  he will be BYEawatha instead of HIawatha

No..... the administration has made it clear that winning football games is not a priority.

Righting the wrongs of the past is.

He could reel off 30 losses in a row (he won't) and he has nothing to worry about.  It's a slam dunk lawsuit... when has WOS ever fired a white coach?  Racism, plain and simple.

Did you actually reread your post and give it any thought before posting?

One very important question remains unanswered about this entire process before we can get closure.

How did Roderick Robertson do at the casino that night ? Did he hit a progressive jackpot ? Did he enter one of those drawings that you had to be present to win ? Either way , i hope he at least picked up a dinner comp

Facts I know,it’s been known since September meeting he would not be at this one…he doesn’t gamble, and had he been there and voted it wouldn’t have mattered being it ended up 4-2!

Correct. I was told it was his wife's birthday and a party had been planned for sometime.

Also, I believe the vote would have been 5-2 had he been in attendance.
