I might be 100% wrong but I would bet that he drew his gun for whatever reason and when putting it back in the holster, had his finger on the trigger.

I’m reminded of a co-worker who was telling us that while in the Army, during basic training, he’d shot himself in the foot.  After an abundance of laughter, I ask him how he’d done it.  By this time he was getting defensive, and angrily ask, “What the heck you mean how did I do it”?  I said, “Well did you you just get lucky are did you aim”.  Now the laughter really busted out.  Even he joined in.  😂😂😂
