It was a pretty good holiday crowd.  First time for me in the gym in over a year.  Very entertaining game.  Seemed like it was faster paced than the final score would indicate, lots of action.

The Hawks were just totally spent at the end of the 3rd and their offense sort of collapsed.  The Tigers on the other hand seemed just as strong at the end as they were at any point.  Relentless.

Silsbee shot it pretty well after the first quarter. HJ had a stretch where shot selection was questionable and they got beat on the boards. The Hawks will have to play 4 quarters of almost perfect basketball to upset the tigers.  Nothing is impossible in the hoops game though. Great way to spend the afternoon.

Hawks had some defensive liability on the floor. Silsbee could just go by them or out muscles them on the boards.. Can’t shoot it good like that and rebound your misses..Tough! Davis didn’t have a good performance after the 1st quarter! Thought the pace was too fast for HJ but I haven’t seen them this year so..go figure. Silsbee might be the 2nd best team in the Area after BU of course. Do HF and Silsbee play this year? The atmosphere was exciting though for a half.. After that it was all Smoke and no brakes for Silsbee

I don’t think Silsbee has HF on the schedule this year.

I think it's safe to remove the word "might" from that statement.

This was the 1st Silsbee vs HJ game I've seen or attended where it was a 95% sell out or better. HJ side looked to be 25% full on the live feed. Couldn't see the Silsbee side.

Reaction to omicron variant.

As previously stated, by a pretty good margin.  The scariest part (for future opponents) is their youth.  Almost invariably, the younger a team (especially a well coached one), the more growth and improvement you will see.  I think a lot of us expected big things from the Tigers by season’s end.  But I, for one, would have lost some money betting on some of these early season games.  I expected them to compete but this has been AS impressive a pre-district run as I’ve seen from the great Tiger teams.

Silsbee is the second best behind BU for sure.

I am pleasantly surprised they have played as well as they have against a tough non district schedule, thus far.  This team rallys around their coaches and two team leaders Harris and Miller. The latter puts down a dunk & the whole team comes off the bench and onto the court to celebrate with him.  That is a good sign.  The DISD tourney will be interesting.  I am confident they will give it their best.  That's all you can ask.

Also, Hardin-Jefferson went scoreless in 4th quarter.

Silsbee outscored HJ in the 4th 15-0.

H-J didnt score a single point in the 4th qtr?  I see it and I trust the source, but hard to believe.

I think it's pretty clear that Silsbee is 2nd best team. But for argument sake, I would put these coverage area teams ahead of Nederland in that debate: Atascocita, La Porte, Hardin-Jefferson, Goose Creek Memorial, Manvel, Summer Creek, and West Brook.

I'd agree with that. How does Lumberton look?

Among the teams in the golden triangle, metro Beaumont area Silsbee is #2.  If you stretch out and add Crosby & Atascocita, hmmm..

I haven't seen Crosby. I do know they put out good athletes every year.  I think Silsbee could take em.

I saw Atascocita. They have good ball handlers and tall guards who can shoot.  And they hustle.  Viva la raza.  Silsbee hustles too.  That would  a good game.

I think HJ may be slight dogs to Booker T and Yates in the region.  Yates pressure may give them some problems and Booker T just gives them matchup nightmares.  Sears is a nice player.  He’s not in the same stratosphere as Washington’s Lewis.   Lewis is better and a half a foot taller.  Both basically play the same position.  Put a clunky big on Kenneth and you are asking for a 50 piece.

Just saw where Washington lost to Fort Bend Elkins today 91-54.

Another one of those "stay in your lane" situations.
