firedup Posted November 8, 2007 Report Posted November 8, 2007 You seem logical. What your opinion on this?
CATMAN Posted November 9, 2007 Report Posted November 9, 2007 I Wholeheartedly support high school sports. The obesity in our schools is a lot bigger than school board think they are. I think hss is a foundation for a healthy body and mind, while having fun. Its let kids learn about life skills. The kids that plays HSS start out as kids and end up as men. KIDS PLEASE DONT SMOKE ITS NOT 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)
firedup Posted November 9, 2007 Author Report Posted November 9, 2007 What about a coach taking a kid that continually screws up - babies him, overlooks all the problems, all the embarassments he causes the team - then when the season is over send him back to the crap pile like he never existed - well at least until next season.
CATMAN Posted November 9, 2007 Report Posted November 9, 2007 THAT WHAT HAPPEN WHEN SPORTS ARE PUT BEFORE THE KIDS, THAT SHOULD NEVER BE DONE IN ANY SCHOOL DIST. THE KID SHOULD SPEAK UP. :o :o
firedup Posted November 9, 2007 Author Report Posted November 9, 2007 sad to say it is happening. I know i'll catch it for this but it seems like football coaches do it more than any one else.
CATMAN Posted November 9, 2007 Report Posted November 9, 2007 I have been told that it happen in the 5a and 4a school.
firedup Posted November 9, 2007 Author Report Posted November 9, 2007 CATMAN - you'd cough up a fur ball, if i told you the whole story. Plum sick.
Guest KirbyKat Posted November 9, 2007 Report Posted November 9, 2007 I hate to jump into someone elses thread, but I'm going to because the topic is important. I was fortunate to have been a head basketball coach for 17 years at 2 local schools. I always thought it was my job to teach the game first and formost. Secondly, I wanted each player to take something positive from the program that he could use later in life. And lastly, it was my goal to play every young man that put on a uniform. Yes, I know, many will say it is about winning at the varsity level. And yes, the won loss record is not Hall of Fame. But I hope that each young man that played for me at Orangefield, Vidor, and Nederland has good memories of their playing days. CATMAN, you are correct. Best wishes to all area teams this year.
