I believe PNG has a couple of names in mind already. As I have said before, if you don’t know the whole story then you don’t need to be making comments on who should be blamed. When  or if the truth comes out those who did may be eating crow. If those in the know want you to know then they will tell you.

Once again, only posting to preserve the quote.

PN-G just played 3 rounds.   They don’t have the most talent, and never have.
PN-G has always played above their talent level and beat teams they have no business beating.   Faircloth got the most out of his kids and teams, IMO.

While he was there, PN-G had a prolific offense, something there weren’t accustomed to on a yearly basis, and that was all due to Faircloth.   He had a great offensive mine.

His team’s weakness was always defense.   He could never find someone to lead a decent defense and I assume that’s people “gripe” about him.

Good luck finding someone to put up the points he put up year after year, and then getting them to play defense like a WO-S or Carthage, with the talent level they have.

Sometimes you don’t know how well you had it, until you lose it.

You forget to add that he's been there 12 years and no State Championships and no State Championship appearances.  Maybe there are those that finally had enough.  If someone can't do it in 12 years, you think they will be able to do it in 24 years?  After about 7 or 8 years you'll know if a coach is capable.

Come on, inquiring minds want to know!    :)

You act like winning a state championship is as easy as a district championship.   Only one wins every year.   And according to your logic there would be well over 1,300 coaching openings every few years when a coach wins no state titles.

Don’t know if you’ve ever coached, but sometimes bringing a team to the 2nd or 3rd round, and getting a team to play way above their talent level, is a helluva coaching job.

If you think PN-G was gonna beat Crosby, Liberty Hill, or SOC then surely you must think they could beat Beaumont United in basketball too!

Does PN-G have the talent level to win it in 5A D1 or 5A D2?   It should always be the ultimate goal, but not a prerequisite for keeping your job.

Don’t judge every school the same standard as you would Katy, GPNS, Carthage, Aledo and the likes.

There’s not a coach in America that would get PNG to state.

Different classifications, different years, PNG belongs in district with Vidor and LCM and the 4A division 1 classification, they are not going past the 3rd round in 5A DII.

Are you joking PNG needs to be in. 4a D1 ? PNG has 566 kids more then LCM. Png also has 138 more kids then  Nederland. PNG doesn’t need to come down. PNG glory days might just be long gone or maybe they will have a good season here or there. But for the most part Setx has average  football  teams compared to certain parts of the state. Yes you will have a extremely talented group come in here and there but PNG is not Katy high, west lake, Highland Park or Aledo. All those schools are near large cities so recruitment is there.

Not if they have/had the "right" coach!   What do you think an actual state championship-type coach could have done with that QB they had  a while back?!   And didn't they have a hellacious RB this year?!  It's time we start putting the blame where it belongs concerning teams that never make it to the State Title.  And it's NOT on the kids!!

Not saying it's impossible, but let's just say that anyone hoping for a Nederland or png state championship as the divisions are currently constructed better not hold their breath...it's a huge numbers game disadvantage...5A Div 2 has about a 600-700 enrollment number disparity with those 2 being on the lower end of that...this isn't the 70's and 80's or even 90's when the playing fields were more level...no one's fault, just the way the state of Texas has grown and how many new schools have popped up as a result...also, the boundaries are blurred as many are very close together geographically and kids have a bit of a "choice" as to where they go...just saying maybe some who play certain sports chose to go to certain schools and this creates pretty strong programs...that doesn't exist here

So -- although Doug Ethridge played in 4 State Championships and won 2 -- he had nothing to do with PNG's success?!

Never said that chief...read the whole comment...I said that the circumstances back then were FAR different and the playing field from a pure numbers standpoint was more level

You can be a great coach, but if you don't have the numbers or the talent pool, it alone will NOT produce you a state championship...my point is that being judged, in this environment, purely on whether or not you "win state", is not a good barometer...Etheridge, as fine of a coach as he was, would have found the sledding a bit harder in this situation

Just find another measuring stick to determine whether your coach should keep his job or not...there are plenty of other things you can measure him by

I believe a good Coach is important. But we can’t sit back here and try to play match maker with athletes. You know you run into teams with multiple D1 offers. Farther in the playoffs you go more athletes your playing against your 1 or 2 guys  might have trouble playing a against a stacked team. There were also two great coaches at home during the state championship games Scott Surratt and Gary Joseph are they at fault for not making  it to the championship?
