geauxbroncos Posted November 10, 2007 Report Posted November 10, 2007 Ok here you go. You want the answer here it is. According to the policies of Dist. 22-4A, in the case of a 3-way tie all three will be called tricahmps, but according to the manual there has to be a district champ and that is determined by points added and subtrated by the 3 teams involved. By winning by more than 5 Dayton is the overall district champion. Here is the good stuff. Dayton, the district champ by the policies of District 22-4A will be the second seed because called and whined about the policy to the other superintendents who have no clue about the athletic end and had the policy changed at 2:30 on the Friday. Yes we all agree that Lumberton beat Dayton, but according to the policy before it was changed at 2:30 on Friday, Dayton would have been the #1 seed out of District 22-4A. I also heard that the day before the executive commitee met and agreed that Dayton if they won would be the top seed from District 22-4A. Now then wether you agree or not since Lumberton beat Dayton, according to policies set by those superintendents and the executive committee 2 years ago, Dayton should be the top seed but JUST GOT SCREWED BY A BUNCH OF CRY BABIES BECAUSE THEY ARE WERE SCARED TO PLAY CROSBY.We would like to invite everyone down to watch the rightful District 22-4A top seed play at Crosby on Friday night. NUTS AND BOLTS, NUTS AND BOLTS, WE JUST GOT SCREWED.Do not take this for whinning about the situation, we welcome playing CRosby, what a great gate and a great game, but thought all of the people in the golden triangle should know that Lumberton just took their ball and went home and cried to mama.

You guys should have taken care of business against Lumberton if you wanted it all to yourselves. Im still shocked that the Raiders beat you guys 8-7. Still unbelievable.
Mike George Posted November 10, 2007 Report Posted November 10, 2007 That's not the point. It's the way this district acts - all for one and one for all, except Dayton - the outsider. As was explained, the district rules are established by the district's athletic directors when the district is established by the UIL - February. District 22-4A voted and agreed to establish playoff rules and by those rules, a "points" system was installed to determine district champ - not head to head. The point is that LUMBERTON, AFTER a meeting on Thursday where the district athletic directors agreed that rules are rules and that's what they would go by, CRIED like babies. The result was they gathered all the superintendants around the district (wonder how much any of these people really know about football) and it was agreed to have a vote to maintain or OVERTURN the RULES.Well, guess the heck what? Dayton and Lumberton could not vote, but the vote went 4-1 to CHANGE the RULES and let Lumberton play Smiley instead of Crosby. So the district champion is playing the district champion in Crosby Friday night. And it's all because LUMBERTON's powers that be, cried like babies.Oh, Vidor was the lone vote to KEEP the RULES. The four other supers ( I guess one abstained) voted to change the rules at 2:30 p.m. today, Friday, Nov. 9. For Lumberton, I hope they do exceptionally well. I REALLY hope we get to see each other again. I'll let the PNG fans answer this one. "Just how pretty is it going to be?"
SETEXFan Posted November 10, 2007 Report Posted November 10, 2007 Don't think he was spinning it but rather just stating facts.
stangchain Posted November 10, 2007 Report Posted November 10, 2007 From what I've heard, Smiley is not going to be a cake walk for L'ton. I really think they will have their hands full. That being said, it is crap that the rules were changed at the nth hour and not at all right. However, Dayton can always make an appeal to the UIL to see if they will intervene and change the rule back. Changing rules is NOT right!
Guest gladiator2 Posted November 10, 2007 Report Posted November 10, 2007 I believe that you are making your own rule book and it is false!!! TRI-CHAMPIONS!!! PNG is going to the big school bracket and the reason that the Broncos were the #2 seed was because Lumberton beat Dayton and not because someone cried. It only makes sense in a tie-breaker to go to the head-to-head matchup. Someone correct me if I am wrong!! Who is really acting like a cry baby!! Dayton has a very good matchup in what should be a Dayton blowout next week, it would not matter which one of the 3 teams that they would play from that district, they will win easily. If I was from Dayton I would feel very good about my chances because I believe they can play with anyone in the state.
KFDM COOP Posted November 10, 2007 Report Posted November 10, 2007 Dayton Coach called into the show and said this i believe.
Raider88 Posted November 10, 2007 Report Posted November 10, 2007 Here ya go!! Look face it Lumberton beat yall!!!
PURPLE 4EVER Posted November 10, 2007 Report Posted November 10, 2007 This was posted on my "Fearless Prediction Yet Perfect Again" thread...."The season ends with a three way tie for first place. Under UIL rules all three teams share the "tri district championship". If you go by point spread, the the rankings would be....#1 DAYTON -1 + 16 = +15#2 LUMBERTON +1 -7 = -6#3 PN-G +7 - 16 = -9If only one team were allowed in the playoffs, according to point spreads, it would be the Broncos!"Bronco fans...Rest assured that if only one team would have gone it would have been DAYTON!!!!As far as who we play in the first round it won't make much difference because all three games will probably be two or more touchdown blowouts. What does make a difference is the 2nd round game.I think we are on the Texas City side. The Broncos will need to keep playing AWEsome to get through the 2nd round! If we do we could be going a long way into the playoffs.Instead of griping lets just relish in the fact that according to point spread we ended up on top, but according to UIL it is TRI Champs!!!We can always put the point spread results by the trophy or plaque to "justify" being on top, but we are tri champs, and if you ask anyone from PN-G or Nederland what would happen with a Lumberton - Dayton rematch. The results of the survey wouldn't be close.Lumberton fans, congrats on finally breaking into the playoffs.Lumberton, PN-G, and Dayton would all be best served of not worrying about this "tri-champ" thing and start worrying about the playoffs.SIX MORE WINS (or 5 for PN-G) AND YOU ARE CHAMPS!!!That is the number 1 that makes the most difference. It has been many many years since one of the 22-4A teams made it to the quarterfinals. We all need to be cheering for one of these teams to make it there!GOOD LUCK TO THE RAIDERS, INDIANS, AND THE BRONCOS!!!Now then, go win the first round playoff game!!!!
Guest BIG HOUSE Posted November 10, 2007 Report Posted November 10, 2007 Congrats to Dayton for a great dist. run........I didn't think you guys would lose another dist. game...GREAT RUN.......HOPE TO MEET UP WITH YOU GUYS AGAIN.............
NDNWarrior Posted November 10, 2007 Report Posted November 10, 2007 I agree purple. Quit whining and crying about who is what! PNG, Dayton, and Lumberton are ALL winners......Lets everybody get in there now a root for our district! We need to go deep, regardless of which team i is. The past few years, we have taken a beating in the playoffs....lets change i this year! Go Indians, Broncos, and Raiders! (Congrats Raiders on making it to the playoffs!) Take it to 'em, 22-4A!
Matt Posted November 10, 2007 Report Posted November 10, 2007 Tri champs, co champs, who cares, we ended up 6-1 just like the other 2, we need to focus on beating crosby, gp & smiley and we need a sweepWant to talk about unjustices, what about the hurricane rita fiasco, just ask pn-g about getting SCREWED that year, nederland making to the playoffs on a coinflip
C4L Posted November 10, 2007 Report Posted November 10, 2007 Get over it... Playoff seeding is ALWAYS decided by the *head-to-head* results and the bottom line is that Lumberton spanked the Geldings.

You guys have the same record, but they beat you head to head and you want a better seeding??? Get over it the real champs are Lumberton, PNG, and Dayton.
C4L Posted November 10, 2007 Report Posted November 10, 2007 Nothing personal, but you need to check *yourself* and your *facts* because you don't know diddly... Each District has the right to decide how to implement tiebreakers to determine *who* qualifies for the playoffs, but seeding is, has been and always will be determined by *head-to-head* competition. That's not the point. It's the way this district acts - all for one and one for all, except Dayton - the outsider. As was explained, the district rules are established by the district's athletic directors when the district is established by the UIL - February. SETEXFan Posted November 10, 2007 Report Posted November 10, 2007 And again you are wrong. Thanks for playing but you do not have the district book in front of you and do not know what it says. Rules are set and you should follow them, not change them in mid stream. It is not the fact of who we are playing but rather the principle of the matter and the lack of professionalism that they showed.Nothing personal, but you need to check *yourself* and your *facts* because you don't know diddly... Each District has the right to decide how to implement tiebreakers to determine *who* qualifies for the playoffs, but seeding is, has been and always will be determined by *head-to-head* competition.
Mike George Posted November 10, 2007 Report Posted November 10, 2007 Not in a three way tie. Two years ago, and I'm certain few considered Dayton to be a threat, the DISTRICT determined what to do in the event of a three-way tie. They ESTABLISHED the rules that without regard to who went to Div 1 or who represented Div 2, that the district champion would be DETERMINED by the point system - and 18 pts (differential) is the maximum number of points used per game. ACCORDING to DISTRICT RULES, Dayton is District Champion in determining playoffs - Lumberton is 2 and PNG is 3.The RULES were changed because it SUITED the needs of ONE team. Now, oh wise one, and nothing personal, but do YOU think that changing the rules like that is the RIGHT THING TO DO?
77 Posted November 10, 2007 Report Posted November 10, 2007 Congrats to all the playoff teams but Dayton is a powerhouse.
bh89-2 Posted November 10, 2007 Report Posted November 10, 2007 Congrats Dayton......way to represent the West of the Trnity Schools. Congrats Lumberton for finally getting what you deserve, respect. As for PN-G, you laid an egg and got beat just like Nederland. As for the playoffs, here is a breakdown for the match-ups, whatever they might be.Smiley - Athletic bunch with nothing to lose. The playoffs are new to them and their nerves might get the best of them. They have some speed, but overall not a lot of depth. I don't see them doing much.Crosby - Probably has the most talent overall. Have big recievers, small ellusive running back, athletic QB and decent speed. They are the best team in this district, however they tend to turn the ball over and make a lot of mistakes. Having said that, they can play with PN-G and likely beat them. They won't beat Dayton and likely can't stop the Lumberton running game.Galena Park - One word....McGaffie. Other than Dayton and maybe Lumberton, I don't see anyone stopping him. My opinion is he is better than the former QB at WOS Beasley (now UT defensive back). Having said that, he is all they got. Their defense is very bad. They have size, but not much strength on the lines. BH dominated both lines and we are small. GP can not stop a decent running game, much less a good running game. Their pass defense is non-existent. Again, slow McGaffie down and you win. Last night out of something like 460 yards offense, he had all but 30 or 40 of it. He is a stud! Congrats Dayton, see you guys this weekend in the playoffs. Go DAYTON!Maybe we will play next year after the UIL mixes things up.
Raider88 Posted November 10, 2007 Report Posted November 10, 2007 Yes I think they did the right thing, I have never read nor have I ever seen this so called rule book (which I would put money up that most of the people whinning have seen it). The reason these certain people are whining is because with the Lumberton loss on your record you cannot solely claim the title. So DEAL with the decision!! Because they are not going to change it just because your CRYING!!
Mike George Posted November 10, 2007 Report Posted November 10, 2007 I have never read nor have I ever seen this so called rule book Then you're comments are frivolous and without merit - except for just being your opinion.Sincerely, I HOPE Lumberton advances far enough in the playoffs to again face the mighty Broncos. Like Nederland fans two weeks ago, like PNG fans this week, seemingly the only way YOU and the rest of your kind will understand is to see Dayton one more time. Then, we'll all ask you a simple question - Was that the same team you played the first week of district? That's all that needs to be said.
Raider88 Posted November 10, 2007 Report Posted November 10, 2007 Reguardless of what I have read or what I have not read this all comes right back down to LUMBERTON BEAT DAYTON!!! Deal with it. Also like someone else stated earlier you need to just concentrate on Crosby. One other thing Mike George you had better hope Lumberton does not meet Dayton again this year. I will GUARANTEE you IT WILL BE WAR!!! They will have to call in the National Guard on this one. Reguardless of who you have beat since our first meeting. Just remember ON ANY GIVEN DAY, YOU CAN BE BEAT!!
