Looking to Week One of Playoffs - WOS vs. Coldsprings

Maybe so.

But Coldspring will (ahem) entertain West Orange-Stark on Saturday afternoon.

...or Saturday.

I've dug up some links to articles on CS. Basically, they have 4 losses, all to playoff bound teams. They lost 44-55 to Diboll who is currently undefeated. They lost 53-30 to Navasota who is playoff bound out of 23-3A which many consider one of the tougher districts in the state. The other losses were the last 2 games against Cleveland and Splendora in close games. It appears they were playing some better ball at the beginning of the season. They ARE capable of playing well...

Coldspring's biggest threat is #20 Zavius Johnson.  He is leading the district in rushing yards.  They also have a line backer #9 that is about 6'3 230. He's an athlete.  Coldspring has the ability to score a lot of points.  They put 44 on Dibol.

Diboll got whalloped by Carthage last night in a high-scoring one.

i hope this is a better game than the district games, the players are getting sick of this.Cant wait for giddings though, should be good

I thought Silsbee gave the Mustangs a very good game. Tigers were only down 7-6 at the half after squandering 3 chances of scoring inside the 10, lost 17-6. That's far from a blowout.

both jasper and silsbee played good games against the stangs....im sure coldspring will do the same.

Don't forget about HF....they were playing an awesome game against WOS until the 4th quarter and for some reason we just fell apart...i don't care what you say our district was tough this year and i think it's fair to say that WOS had some teams that proved to be very competitive! with that said...i would like to also ad...good luck next saturday, i for one hope WOS wins this game as they are representing 21-3A....GO MUSTANGS!!!

You're right, #20 is their bread and butter. The #9 player you mention is also a running back and he is tough to bring down. Coldspring defense didn't impress me much but they can put some points on the scoreboard. WOS should win this game handily

Thanks HF mom...we need all of the support that we can get especially since...we are representing SE Texas and the Golden Triangle.  Good Luck to  WO-S, Jasper, and Kirbyville... ;D

I am not saying that Coldspring will win, someone asked about what they had.  #9 got hurt against Cleveland and did not play against Splendora, but he is supposed to play the play-off game.  #22 has some wheels as well.  Good luck Trojans.

I'm sure they will move the ball and probably score, but they haven't played a team of WO-S's caliber this year. Diboll isn't a bad team by any means, but they have given up 56 to Carthage, 44 to Coldspring, 28 to Crockett, and 34 to Center. The total points against for those four games is 162. WO-S has given up only 83 in 10 games - not to mention the fact that they did it against a much tougher district and three 4A teams - one of which won its district. If you stretched out Diboll's last four games of points allowed over a 10-game stretch, they'd still give up almost twice as many points per game as WO-S.

More directly, Coldspring has given up 284 points - 201 more than the Mustangs.

Coldspring has scored 336 points as compared to 349 by WO-S.

Average score for WO-S this year: 40-8

Average score for Coldspring: 34-28

Yes, anything can happen. I hope my Stangs don't go into Dayton thinking about Giddings, because there will be trouble. But if they stay focused, like they almost always do, I expect it to be over by mid-third quarter. I hope everyone has a safe trip, and I'm looking forward to a fun game!
