they have a very good team.  only losses on the year are to 5a #12 Royce City by 9, 4A #5 Midlothian Heritage by 5, 6A Private Bishop Lynch by 13, and 6A San Angelo Central by 13.  They have several solid wins this year, including that impressive 50-point win they just put up against a 34-4 Palestine.  All that said, HJ has several wins over teams as good or better than the teams that have beaten La Vega.  There aren't any common opponents this season, but playing connect the dots, HJ beat ranked 5A Red Oak by 13, Red Oak just beat Royse City by 8, and Royse City beat La Vega by 9.  So HJ should win by 30 (just kidding).  All things said, I'll take HJ by 15, but this is the first opponent they've played in almost two months that will be good enough to win if the hawks play badly, or if they get a few key players in foul trouble.  HJ only beat La Vega by 7 last year, and this year's La Vega team is better, although the Hawks are a lot better than last year as well, IMO.

They had a common opponent in Palo  Duro (3-18). Hard to compare against a weak opponent dating back to December, but, La Vega won 64-39 and HJ won 66-21.

of course, it’s one game at a time and they make you play them for a reason.

I meant HJ by 16.  Fat fingers and whatnot
