The Press conference to announce the finalists for the Willie Ray Smith

football awards will be held on April 4, 2022 at the Elegante Hotel in

Beaumont. It will be in the Fountainview Room at 6pm.

Surprised Miller for Silsbee wasn’t a finalist. He seemed to dominate every defense they played.

I've been a voter for many years and it's rare for a WR to make finalist and also a soph. to make finalist.

Thats silly, the best football players should be rewarded regardless of position or class. Is it common for d-lineman like Washington to be a finalist? What about o-line guys?

D-line guys have made finalist many times. Never had an O-line guy make finalist and they are rarely nominated. To my memory only one O-line dude has been nominated in the past 6 years.

Only O-line guy I can remember was way back in 2003, Jorrie Adams from Jasper was an offensive finalist.  I think Red Bryant won the defensive award that year also. Jasper was stout that year.

Silsbee was way short on talent this year.

I can't believe that nobody's disgruntled about a Silsbee player that didn't make the list.

Those 2 players....Jordan Smith from Vidor and a couple other area kids are definitely deserving to be finalist.

I have not seen him, but if he is on the same level with those two he should be. Sanders was putting up video game numbers it seemed like weekly. And I think Gales is the leading rusher in WOS history.

Sanders was a human highlight reel and yes, Gales is the all-time leading WOS rusher.... headscratcher for sure
