dayton Posted November 13, 2007 Report Posted November 13, 2007 No one around here will come close to beating 4A Stephenville or Everman. If anyone from here got far enough to play them (Champ. game I believe)....I would be ecstatic. I wish someone would. I'm curious to see the separation between our area and theirs.
setxguru Posted November 13, 2007 Report Posted November 13, 2007 My question is, who has dayton really beaten? Besides PNG, the only playoff teams they have played, they have lost to. They played 3AAA WOS the first game and had ALL their player healthy and lost. They played Lumberton, who is a 4AAAA playoff team and lost. They beat Nederland, who didn't make the playoffs, and PNG who did. They also lost to Friendswood, who didn't make the playoffs. So their record against playoff teams is (1-2), and they are expected to go (6-0) against all playoff teams here on out. I don't think this should even be a conversation yet. Has Dayton ever made it passed the third round?

dayton Posted November 13, 2007 Report Posted November 13, 2007 been to the 3rd rd twice in DII and to the 3rd Rd once in DI.I won't comment on how far this team will go, but our early season exploits were not a good indication of what the Broncos are capable of doing in the postseason. just my opinion. This thread asks of the capabilities of the broncos. They are CAPABLE of making a deep run. I'm not predicting anything, but I know that the coaches and players will be as prepared as they can, just like they have been all year.Friendswood would make the playoffs in almost any other district, including this one.
Guest TravelingBandsman Posted November 14, 2007 Report Posted November 14, 2007 Our team is also twice as better as it was at the beginning of the year, and no, the farthest Dayton has gone has been round 3. 1998 season we lost to La Marque in round 3 and 2002, we lost to Conroe Oak Ridge in round 3.This however, doesn't mean Dayton can never exceed 3rd round. I truly believe we can beat Crosby friday and if we pull off the win against Texas City, I don't think we'll have another challenge until 4th round which will either be La Marque or Lumberton.

Mr. Buddy Garrity Posted November 15, 2007 Report Posted November 15, 2007 they would play Stephenville or W.F. Rider in the title game. I say they can get there, but those two teams are very VERY strong.
LHSALLZONE Posted November 15, 2007 Report Posted November 15, 2007 anything u say here is just our opinions. not seeing all other teams play butjust following them through the news. i must say ,i do think the broncos cango all the way. dayton does have speed, size, defense that just floods to theball& an offense that starting to pace at a furious run. this area has won state playoffs before, so why not believe in dayton. broncos can play someball. good luck from lhs. :o ps ; dont forget about them coaches

setxguru Posted November 15, 2007 Report Posted November 15, 2007 I wasn't trying to kick anybody when they were down, I was simply making a point. Dayton should not really be considered a state champion contender at this time. They really haven't had much success in the playoffs, or against playoff teams. I also don't know who you were refferring to that dayton was missing in the wos game. I think they just got beat. I do wish the bronco's the best of luck, but some are jumping the gun on the Purple State Rings for dayton.
Mr. Buddy Garrity Posted November 15, 2007 Report Posted November 15, 2007 ;D ;DAlso as much as I do not want to...you have to throw Everman in the mix .yeah but both the Jackets and Rider can beat Everman come playoff time.

Lucky Posted November 15, 2007 Report Posted November 15, 2007 Capable, yes.................but unlikely !
Lightning/Eagle Posted November 15, 2007 Report Posted November 15, 2007 Capable, yes but they also have to catch a few breaks along the way. You never know when the injury bug will bite. And you can not turn the ball over in the playoffs, especially as you get closer to the title game.
