Boys leap into hoop season

A busy first week of the boys’ high school basketball season began Monday night with Sterling’s late game against Rayburn.

Lee opens its second season under coach Dote Williams tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Houston Reagan.

The Ganders will play in the McDonald’s Invitational in various Pasadena gyms Thursday through Saturday.

Barbers Hill’s boys open their season at Nederland tonight at 7:30 p.m. with a 4:30 p.m. game Friday at Anahuac.

Crosby’s boys host Magnolia at 7:30 p.m. in their season opener, then play at Montgomery Friday at 7:30 p.m.

Sterling’s boys host Klein Oak Friday at 7 p.m.

In second-week girls’ action, Sterling’s 2-0 Lady Rangers play at Hastings tonight at 7 p.m., then travel to the Fort Bend tournament Thursday through Saturday.

Lee’s girls, 2-2 after a fourth-place finish at their Lady Gander Tip-Off Classic, host Galena Park at 7 p.m. tonight. They then play in the McDonald Invitational Thursday through Saturday.

A trip to Cleveland is on tap tonight night for Barbers Hill’s girls, who went 1-1 last week. The Eagles host Santa Fe Friday at 6:30 p.m.
