#17 Lions claim opener with Devils, 2-0

Mistakes in the postseason are sometimes magnified, and they were Thursday night at Panther Field, as the 17th-ranked Franklin Lions took advantage of a Central Heights error in each of the first two innings to score unearned runs in each frame, and went on to secure a 2-0 win in Game 1 of the best-of-three Class 3A Region III Semifinal series.

The 15th-ranked Blue Devils (29-7) will fight to stay alive on Saturday afternoon when the series with the Lions (29-4-1) shifts to Madisonville High School. Game 2 is scheduled for a 12-noon first pitch. If the Devils win that contest, a winner-take-all third game will begin 30 minutes later.
