Seahawks travel for Wednesday game at San Jacinto College

The Lamar State College-Port Arthur men's basketball team will be in

Pasadena on Wednesday for a 7 p.m. game against another Division I team from

Region XIV, the San Jacinto College Ravens, who finished second in their

conference last year and are picked to win it this year.

Lamar State (3-2) is coming off a 30-point loss at Panola College in

Carthage on Monday, where the Seahawks, down by only nine at half-time,

allowed the Ponies to score 55 points in the second half to win 91-61.

Freshman forward George Williamson from Vidor led Lamar State with

19 points. Sophomore guard Noah Cole added 12 points and sophomore forward

Cody Guidry had nine rebounds.

Lamar State coach Don Bryson said his team will have to pick up

their game against the highly-rated Ravens.

"San Jacinto was near the top of Region XIV last season, and they

are improved," Bryson said. "They lost to Temple the other night, so they

will be ready to put it on the next team they play. So, we have to be ready

to play our best basketball."

The Seahawks are 0-3 against San Jacinto since their first meeting

in 2004. The Ravens were picked No. 10 in the nation this fall in the

National Junior College Athletic Association's pre-season poll.

Lamar State returns to the Carl Parker Center for Homecoming Night

on Saturday, Nov. 17, for a rematch with Lee College, which beat the

Seahawks 95-74 on Nov. 3.
