BEAUMONT — LC-M boys 73, Kelly 49

BEAUMONT — The Little Cypress-Mauriceville Bears got off to a 1-0 start Tuesday with a 73-47 victory over the Beaumont Kelly Bulldogs.

The Bears got 19 points and eight rebounds from Dallas Bean while C.J. Champine added 18 points in the victory.

LC-M took charge early with a 17-6 advantage after the first period and then led 38-20 at the break.

The Bears never let up as LC-M outscored Kelly 20-17 in the third to take a 58-37 lead into the fourth.

LC-M then outscored Kelly 15-10 in the fourth.

Matt Mott led the Bears with 10 assists while Kevin Cooper finished the night with 10 points and 12 rebounds.

WO-S boys 75, Milburn Academy 54

WEST ORANGE — The West Orange-Stark Mustyangs gave first-year head coach Zach Quinn his first career varsity victory by taking down Milburn Academy 75-54 at Mustang Gym Tuesday night.

Quest Watson certainly had the hot hand for the Mustangs (1-0) firing in a game-high 26 points in his varsity debut.

Donlad Brown contributed eight points and 10 rebounds for the Mustangs while Jim McDonald added eight points.

Shay Alexander led Milburn Academy (0-2) with 18 points.

The Mustangs return to action next Tuesday when they visit Port Neches-Groves.

PN-G 65, Bridge City 49

BRIDGE CITY — The Port Neches-Groves Indians pounded out a season-opening 65-51 victory over the Bridge City Cardinals Tuesday night at Cardinal Gym.

Jason Clark led the Cardinals (0-1) with a game-high 20 points while Mitch Todd paced the Indian attack with 14 points.

The Cardinals return to action Friday when they play host to Lumberton.

BEAUMONT — The Orangefield Lady Bobcats used a strong second period to race past 5A Beaumont West Brook 73-46 Tuesday night.

Senior Kaylin Little struck for a game-high 27 points to go with five steals while Aimee Scales hit for 18 points and six rebounds.

The Lady Bobcats (2-1) trailed the Lady Bruins 13-10 after the first period only to outscore the home team 24-11 in the second to take a 34-24 lead into the break.

Orangefield then outscored West Brook 39-22 the rest of the way for its second victory of the young season.

Olivia Wagner added 10 points and four assists in the win.

Orangefield will play host to Kountze Friday.
