KF89 Posted August 22, 2022 Report Posted August 22, 2022 D-PARK 2021Results- 8-3, District Champs, Bi-District Finalist / 6-0 District Record Lettermen R/L- 24/41 Returning Starters- Offense- 4 Defense-5 2022 INFO- Deer Park put it all together in Coach Flynn’s fourth season at the helm, winning eight games and bringing home a district title in 2021. A good senior class has moved on, but there’s still enough talent in place that Deer should again challenge for a district title. The offense has some firepower returning with RB- Ernasmo Canales (743 yards, 14 TDs rushing), while WR- Hayden Smith (24-446, 4 TDs receiving) is expected to be the deep threat. The defense will get a big boost with the return of LB- Dino Demetriou, who suffered a season ending injury in Week 2 last year. DL- Luke Webb (16 tackles, 3 sacks) and DB- Tudi Gustave (29 tackles, 2 INTs) will be key returners for the defense. Coach Flynn says the big concern is breaking in a new quarterback and several new offensive linemen in 2022. Impact Players LB- Dino Demetriou- 6-1, 205, 4.6 RB- Erasmo Canales- 6-0, 210, 4.7 DL- Caleb Dilley- 6-2, 260, 4.9 DL- Luke Webb- 6-3, 265 WR- Hayden Smith- 5-10, 165, 4.6 DB- Tudi Gustave- 5-10, 190, 4.6 LB- Caleb Espinoza- 5-10, 200, 4.6 Quote
Stangfan#1 Posted August 24, 2022 Report Posted August 24, 2022 I always love to see these to teams play an good rivalry game Quote
Cougar14.2 Posted August 24, 2022 Report Posted August 24, 2022 If La Porte stays even remotely close to DP at this point in Coach Berneathy’s tenure they’re probably going to be a playoff caliber team by the end of the season. They’re going to play two 4K enrollment schools in non-district so La Porte’s staff should get a solid look at their new offense against good personnel and be able to make some adjustments prior to district play. We’ll see how it looks but 25 returning lettermen, including 14 starters, is a decent start. Quote
