PdaddyBball Posted August 29, 2022 Report Posted August 29, 2022 Panthers get the win here by 10+ points Quote
bullets13 Posted August 29, 2022 Report Posted August 29, 2022 Anahuac is salty. I’ll say they win by 4 scores. Quote
purpleeagle Posted August 29, 2022 Report Posted August 29, 2022 A freshman (I think he is a freshman) QB that has exceptionally strong arm and accurate with his throws. I do not think HJ can stay with Anahuac. Quote
oldschool2 Posted August 29, 2022 Report Posted August 29, 2022 I watched a little bit of the Anahuac/Newton game Friday. Ana's QB is a freshman? I kinda like the kid. That said.. freshmen will freshmen sometimes. I still choose Anahuac. Quote
TXHORN_ET Posted August 29, 2022 Report Posted August 29, 2022 What a way to begin your varsity fb career, against Newton. I’m thinking this isn’t your typical freshman. Anahuac gets the victory this week with more to come. 2wedge and bullets13 1 1 Quote

RedJollyRoger Posted August 30, 2022 Report Posted August 30, 2022 Yup! I like the Panthers in this one too Quote

forREALtho Posted August 30, 2022 Report Posted August 30, 2022 Neece, and barrier on the passing game. Quote

forREALtho Posted August 30, 2022 Report Posted August 30, 2022 I’m sure he is. I figure barrier was QB coach and helped with the passing game. That’s me outside looking in. Just assuming. Quote
Guest Posted August 30, 2022 Report Posted August 30, 2022 My assumption is, nobody in the history of ever, has called plays for greg neece. Quote

forREALtho Posted August 30, 2022 Report Posted August 30, 2022 I don’t follow much high school football. Just kind of getting back in it. So I don’t know all the situations and I don’t know who Neece is. Think he was at Newton for a bit is all I know. And yes I agree with Old School Quote

There have been many times an assistant coach or even head coach was hired and their son ended up being the starting QB. Package deal. BlueOwl 1 Quote

How many times has Neece been a head coach where a former Head Coach comes in as an assistant with a son that starts as the varsity quarterback? I'll add that I've heard that Barrier has a reputation of being pretty well versed in the area. I wouldn't be surprised if some sort of arrangement was made before the hire about Barrier having a role somewhat. 2wedge 1 Quote

But I stood on the sidelines last Friday night (1st half on Anahuac side, 2nd half on Newton side) and from what I saw was Neece doing all the play calling. Now that doesn't mean the plays weren't being radioed down from OC in the booth. But Neece carries a play card in his hand and when the time to call the play arose he referenced to it many times. Having personally witnessed dozens of Neece games, I too have seen him refer to the card/book he carries. And I have always heard Neece was the sole OC in his career. And from another HC/OC friend of mine who knows Neece, he is one of the best to ever do it on that side of the ball. Quote

I gotcha. Well.. was it a typically called game for Neece compared to his usual play calling habits? It seems that the young QB slung it around a little. That par? Quote
