KFDM COOP Posted November 16, 2007 Report Posted November 16, 2007 Lady Bears down Jasper in Nederland tournyThe Orange LeaderNEDERLAND — Paced by the 21 points and seven steals by Ellen Williams, the Little Cypress-Mauriceville Lady Bears slipped past the Jasper Lady Bulldogs 53-47 at the Nederland Lady Bulldog Tournament Thursday.Guard Ashley Anderson poured in 15 points and swiped three steals for the Lady Bears (2-1) while Nardis McBride tore down a game-high 11 rebounds.The Lady Bears return to action today when they face defending District 21-3A champion and defending Nederland tourney champion Silsbee at 9 a.m. Silsbee throttled the Anahuac Lady Panters 82-33 in the first round.In other action at the tourney Thursday, the Vidor Lady Pirates took down the West Orange-Stark Lady Mustangs 54-46. Lumberton downed the Bridge City Lady Cardinals as well. No reports were submitted by either the WO-S or Bridge City coaching staffs.In boys action tonight the LC-M Bears (1-0) will travel to Huffman, Vidor will welcome Milburn Academy while Bridge City (0-1) will play host to Lumberton.In girls non-district play tonight, the Orangefield Lady Bobcats (2-1) will welcom Kountze while the Deweyville Lady Pirates play host to West Hardin.Next Monday on the girls’ side of the ledger, Orangefield will play host to Nederland; Bridge City will visit Buna and Deweyville will make a trip to Evadale. On Tuesday, WO-S will visit Lumberton; Vidor will welcome Bridge City and LC-M will entertain Deweyville.In Tuesday’s boys action, the LC-M Bears will host Milburn Academy in their first home game of the season. Orangefield will hit the road to Starks (La.) while Bridge City hosts Deweyville and Vidor goes to Lake Charles St. Louis.
